Conserve our environment. Conserve our climate. Conserve our biological diversity instead of letting species go extinct. Conserve our natural environment. Conserve our people with healthcare for all.

Conserve our productive businesses. Don't waste money on privatization fraud, on corrupt massive excessive military contractors. Conserve our wealth for the American people and infrastructure instead of giving it all to a few wealthy people to do with as they will, and overwhelming massive debt. Conserve the peace. Conserve the rule of law. Conserve our institutions. Conserve our workforce. Conserve our right to vote and constitution.

In short, conserve our resources and our people, instead of having uncontrolled plutocracy squander our planet, wealth, and people.

Who are the real conservatives? Democrats, and especially progressives. Not the radical, crazed, reckless plutocratic supporters who call themselves conservatives.

Conservative means "culturally" conservative or "fiscally" conservative. They aren't necessarily conservative about everything.

A desire to preserve separate races is considered an extreme right-wing position.

huh? according to the right wingers here, those were liberals;)

Could we not pollute this thread and get some reasonable discussion?

I really hate the label liberal and conservative. The fact of the matter is that you need BOTH in a functional society. You need conservatives to conserve items such as the environment and compassion for each other and you need liberals to progress ourselves through change in the environment and through the times. You can't be stagnant (conservative) over everything and you can't throw out everything (liberal) of society for it to function. Why is this such a hard concept to understand and why is it that everyone wants to label one person one or the other? There is no PURE conservative person out there and there is not a PURE liberal person out there. There are various levels of each so why is it people want to attach themselves to one or the other when each person is a various level of each?

Seriously, why are there folks that want to pit each other AGAINST each other when in reality we are a combination of BOTH Conservative and Liberal ideals?

Now that's a stretch if I have ever heard one(LOL)

I've always argued that a real conservative is pro-choice, favoring the preservation of rights for born females over inventing laws to protect something that is not yet a born citizen, much less an actual person.

Being a forced birther is the ultimate in bleeding heart liberalism. "Save da Babies!" Never mind that said baby is not even a baby yet.

Since when have "conservatives" been "fiscally" conservative? How can you say being so is "conservative" when it isn't?

It's Hard though Craig when the very thread was "Unreasonable"(LOL)

To be fair the majority of so-called 'conservatives' I encounter here are either conspiracy nutters, far-righters with views verging on fascism, or those who think it's still 1956, yearning for the return of some nebulous 'Golden Age' when women were timid little mice to be seen and not heard, and blacks knew their place.

LOL, you certainly didn't conserve on using loony left mantras. :lamo

"People embrace political conservatism (at least in part) because it serves to reduce fear, anxiety, and uncertainty; to avoid change, disruption, and ambiguity; and to explain, order, and justify inequality among groups and individuals"

Conservatives prefer more simple and plain paintings, familiar music, and unambiguous texts and poems. complexity is not their thing. Liberals enjoy more cubist and abstract art.

Studies have shown that people get more conservative when they feel threatened and afraid and terrified of dying .."Me want more guns"

Brain scans show that people who self-identify as conservative have larger and more active right amygdalas, an area of the brain that's associated with expressing and processing fear. This aligns with the idea that feeling afraid makes people lean more to the right.

Decades of research on conservative people suggested that their social views can help satisfy "psychological needs" to make sense of the world and manage uncertainty and fear.

Conservative voters were found to be more likely to agree with statements like: "I often have tender, concerned feelings for my family members who are less fortunate than me."
But their responses suggested such feelings did not extend to people from other countries or even to their next door neighbors...They're internally selfish.

Liberals, on the other hand, were more likely to feel that same level of compassion for people around the world and their friends.

Why yes, yes it is. What are your feelings about interracial relationships?

I believe it's important to "conserve our biological diversity", as the OP put it.

...according to the dictionary [not ruse limbaugh/republican radio] 'conservatives' want to 'maintain/preserve the status quo'... but today's stoooooooopid republican-radio-level 'conservatives' are CONSTANTLY COMPLAINING ABOUT THE STATUS QUO.... methinks they just need something to complain about.... ;)
