Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) on Sunday accused President Trump of inciting "domestic terrorism” in the wake of an alleged plot to abduct her.

"It's incredibly disturbing that the president of the United States, 10 days after a plot to kidnap, put me on trial, and execute me … is at it again … inciting this kind of domestic terrorism," Whitmer said on NBC’s “Face the Nation,” the day after the president held a rally during which participants chanted “Lock her up” when he mentioned her.

“It is dangerous, not just for me and my family, but for public servants everywhere who are doing their jobs and trying to protect their fellow Americans. People of good will on both sides of the aisle need to step up and call this out and bring the heat down,” she added. “This is the United States of America. We do not tolerate actions like he is giving comfort to. And that's why we all have to be in this together.”

The affadavit is really quite an interesting read, well worth a few minutes of your time.

The evidence set forth in this affidavit demonstrates probable cause to issue a criminal complaint charging Adam FOX, Barry CROFT, Ty GARBIN, Kaleb FRANKS, Daniel HARRIS, and Brandon CASERTA with conspiring to kidnap Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 1201(c). FOX, GARBIN, FRANKS, HARRIS and CASERTA are residents of Michigan, and CROFT is a resident of Delaware.

17. On July 27, 2020, CHS-2 met FOX at his business in Grand Rapids. CHS-2 provided the FBI with an audio recording of the meeting. FOX said their best opportunity to abduct Governor Whitmer would be when she was arriving at, or leaving, either her personal vacation home or the Governor’s official summer residence. Both residences are located in the Western District of Michigan. FOX described it as a “Snatch and grab, man. Grab the f***in’ Governor. Just grab the bitch. Because at that point, we do that, dude -- it’s over.” FOX said that after kidnapping the Governor, the group would remove her to a secure location in Wisconsin for “trial.”

So, this is supposed to be a patriot's idea of the new America we can expect with a continuation of Trump's administration?
If that is the case then the only rational and reasonable response MUST be one that appears irrational and unreasonable on its face, except that, given the above factors, it actually isn't.
It isn't irrational or unreasonable because the actions of these groups are what is irrational and unreasonable and, given the statements by various Michigan Sheriffs that amount to tacit approval of lawlessness, it appears that even law and order take a back seat to ad hoc armed seditionist militia groups.
Such actions and statements embolden groups like these because they amount to tacit approval and therefore, license.
There is now a general belief among these groups that it's legal to kidnap an elected Governor.

If this is what is going to pass for patriotism, liberty and justice in this new America, then it is entirely reasonable and rational to just shoot any group of armed persons in camo on sight, no questions asked.
What other response is there aside from surrender to these militia groups?

Serious question here: If these clowns are being enabled, what other response can there be?
After all, suppose they had been successful in abducting Governor Whitmer.
Does anyone believe that they would stop there and not be further emboldened?
What if they decided that their next step is a coordinated armed takeover of the entire Michigan legislature, followed by capture of local media organizations, critical civilian infrastructure, banking, energy, manufacturing, then food and medical?
Sorry but that IS how it happens in third world countries with weak and ineffectual governments.
No such "militia" (prefer they be called TERRORISTS) ever BACKS DOWN once they score a victory like kidnapping a governor.
So, am I wrong in saying that the only OTHER OPTION is for civilians to surrender?
