Okay, this might be a weird topic but last night I watched the rerun of Trading Spouses where they let the "God Warrior" (who I thought was crazy on her first episode) go on again and go to the house of a self-proclaimed "African Nationalist"
Now what this man explained he wanted was to bring Africa into his community, where only black people would be. With African art and culture. And he said people call him prejudiced but he's prejudiced FOR black people, not against white people. And he calls black people Africans and not African-Americans. I thought that was kind of weird because he's actually better off here in America than he would be in Africa.
He treated poor Margurite Perrin horribly while she stayed there. (I saw both parts when it first aired) He invited his friends over and then was ignoring her and interrupting her every time she tried to talk. His family said they were shocked at how he was behaving.
Anyway, I'll got to the point of the thread, which is, is that man's views acceptable? I dunno about white Nationalists but aren't they trying to do the same thing? If some black people WANT to be segregated and have their culture shouldn't we let them and also let white people who want it too? I mean if they are so miserable together....I dunno
He's a nut case. Him and his wife. They have some retarded idea that African Americans in the U.S. can go back to Africa and live normaly. I've been to Africa alright. I went to Accra like 2 years ago. The last thing any black man in the states wants to do is go back to Africa to live. Why? Because of the conditions Africa is in. Any black man who says they'd rather live in Africa then the States is lying to your face. Not only do you have to work 10x as hard to get anywhere in Africa but their way of living is just different. Most Americans wouldn't be able to live a life where if your family isn't rich you'll spend most of your life in poverty. Theres no such thing as a dream in Africa like there is in America. In Africa yes there are people that have made it out of poverty but the odds are against you on such a level that it's like trying to look for a pin in the ocean.
That aside. He's one of those black people I like staying away from. The type that call me an Uncle Tom because I don't give too shits if you're black or white. He's the type that would criticize me for having 2 African Americans and 3 whites working for me. The type that believes that for blacks to get out of poverty they have to hate the white man and stay away from the "white" race. It's disgusting. If they didn't spend their time wasting time on little bullshit ideas like this one maybe they'd get somewhere. If they spent their time working on ways to help poor Americans. Maybe they'd get somewhere. They'd rather criticize the white man without providing any solutions to the problems all Americans face.
I watched part of that too. It was pure trash.. she had to know that she was gonna be attacked and put down. Was there a script?Okay, this might be a weird topic but last night I watched the rerun of Trading Spouses where they let the "God Warrior" (who I thought was crazy on her first episode) go on again and go to the house of a self-proclaimed "African Nationalist"

She was treated badly, and she was made to look like a fanatic and foolish. Was that the purpose?
I didn't see the episode but is the woman you are talking about the same one who claims to be a "soldier of god" and screams about things being "unholy"?

Yeah I feel so bad for their poor daughter too, she looked like a sweet little girl. I never did understand why they rave about Africa, you hear all this terrible stuff about chaos over there and then hear people like that guy obsess about it like it's heaven or something.
(I hope that's not offensive, I know they lost their identities during the slave trade but now they are safely away from the chaos and can be 10x happier here, and if they really wanna go there no one is stopping them anymore...)
African nationalism is an oxymoron anyway. I don't think that people from Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, and South Africa really have much of anything in common with each other. I'd hardly consider Africa to be a nation.
