Yes. It is immoral trying to draw from the well of social capital that comes with being a member of an ostensibly-oppressed ethnic minority when you do not belong to that minority and do not have experiences of oppression and immiseration to draw upon. The closest approximation I would have for it would be "stolen valor" when one pretends to have served in the military and/or awarded honors for exemplary service for having braved injury or death. At the very least, it is just plain dishonest. And that is not even touching upon her apparent excuse-making for the murder of children in the Latino community by gang members because the young boy happened to be in the police Explorers Program, which I find even more morally reprehensible.

If you can be whatever sex you want to be, why can’t the same apply to skin pigmentation? The reverse used to be called “passing.”

Well, if we get to re-write our personal history to suit our whims, can I be a "Trans-veteran" since I've never served in the military? Because instead of being a small-town family law and bankruptcy attorney, I would very much prefer to say I was a Navy SEAL who killed 200 Taliban Jihadis, was awarded the Naval* Cross, and transferred to the Army to fly an Apache attack helicopter. Oh, and then I developed the cure for infantile bone cancer. Because I am ALSO a doctor specializing in pediatric oncology. I would bet my made-up history would be way cooler than Mrs. Krug's.

*EDIT: "Navy Cross"

It’s all open mike night anymore........it’s the Navy Cross, btw.

Her career should be over after this--talk about dishonesty! It's worse than plagarism! It's too bad, too; she sounds very bright, and an energetic young professor. I wonder how her parents feel about those antics? If you ask me, there's a screw loose somewhere...
