Ending cash bail will not automatically put people charged with crimes on the streets," a White House official told Fox News. "It just means that whether you get bail should be based on the threat you pose, and not how much money you have in your bank account."

"There shouldn’t be a separate criminal justice system for wealthy Americans," the official added.

Earlier this month, Milwaukee prosecutors requested just $1,000 bail for Brooks after he was arrested and charged for punching his girlfriend in the face and then running her over with his car in a gas station parking lot. Prosecutors now admit that bail was "inappropriately low."
So should Rittenhouse have remained in jail for the duration of his trial?

bail IS ALREADY set by threat to society, as well as severity of crime.
These people are clueless
So $1000 bail for a guy with a very lengthy criminal record that had just tried to kill his baby momma is OK?

Rittenhouse had no priors and was claiming self defense, which was bolstered by the video evidence, thus he wasnt a danger to society. Did he shoot any more people before his trial? Did he run anyone over with an SUV after he got out?

So in other words, you don't need a trial to determine guilt or innocence. This is my surprised face: :)

dont forget bails bondmen will do it for 10%. Also relying on a judges discretion would open up other avenues of complaint form the left of unfairness ( judge took race into account, or class or whatever)
The advantage of bail is that the amount is primarily based on the severity of the crime+ any flight risk
Theses are more objective then just leaving it upto a judge to determine risk
Bail bondsman only do it for 10% if you pout up real property that covers what they would have to lay out.
