The Obama administration is seeking to make it easier for the FBI to compel companies to turn over records of an individual's Internet activity without a court order if agents deem the information relevant to a terrorism or intelligence investigation.
You know, when Bush was in office, Liberals went nuts attacking his attempts to increase illegal surveillance in America. Now that Obama is in office, I am hearing crickets on this issue, but to anyone who values the Constitution, this IS an issue. The Constitution is a sacred document, and not something for wiping your ass with.

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss. Voters, HERE is the hope and change you ordered. And, to you Democrats, why should you care about this issue, since a guy with a "D" after his name occupies the Oval Office now? Because, if you allow Obama to continue the government's assault on Constitutional principles, America continues down a slippery slope towards a dictatorship. A future president and congress, possibly Republican, possibly Democrat, possibly other, may put an end to the grand experiment begun more than 230 years ago by our forefathers, because partisanship became more important than patriotism.

when asked what kind of government we were going to have, Benjamin Franklin replied "A Republic, if we can keep it". This question, once asked of Franklin, is the burning question in today's times. Some questions are ageless, and some answers end ages. I dearly hope we find the right answer this time. We had better. It is staring us right in the face.

Looks like I am hearing crickets from the Liberals in this thread too. If Bush was in office, this thread might be 100 pages by now. Ahh, I get it. Obama is a Democrat, so he doesn't deserve the same kind of scorn that was heaped on Bush for doing the same, right?

I missed it when you posted it. I don't like this, don't think it is a good idea, don't think it should be done.

You should have called out conservatives who supported Bush for things like this and see if they support Obama on it too. Fair is fair after all.

Bit by bit, our privacy in all western countries is being slowly eroded away.

This troubling trend has to be stopped, but I suppose its what we deserve. After 9/11 we were all too happy to give up parts of our civil liberties and privacy to "combat terrorism".

If we continue to subvert our own laws to "fight terrorism" then they won't need to destroy our countries, we'll do it ourselves. And one day we won't even recongnize anymore the thing we thought we were protecting.

Stop fear.

People need to wake up and realize this: their own governments have far more potential to harm them than ten thousand Osama Bin Ladens. Terrorists are murderers and we should fight them, but ultimately they are incapable of toppling the governments of the West. They cannot take over just about no matter what they do. I'm ok with devoting more resources and specialists to anti-terrorism intelligence but the tools we use to take down the terrorists should not be tools that can also be used to destroy the Bill of Rights.

I did when Bush was in office, but guess what? Bush is no longer in office. Obama is. Therefore, he is on the hot seat now, and he deserves to be there. After all, wasn't HE the one who said that things would change in Washington?

To be honest, if it wasn't for skin color, I wouldn't be able to tell Bush and Obama apart. LOL.

I was not talking about your calling out Obama. That is fine and I agree. What I am talking about is calling out those who agree with the second but not the first, but not the other way around.

This is unacceptable. If somebody is a terrorist threat and you have even a shred of evidence, FISA will give you a warrant. If time is a factor and you can't afford the delay, FISA will issue the warrant after the fact. There is no reason why the FBI can't be bothered to follow the damn constitution and get a warrant. Its pathetic that the only justification for violating 4th amendment rights is that it is "faster and easier".
