Ok, this might be a strange topic, but......

I keep hearing about how biased, unrealistic, etc, etc, the various radio talk show hosts are.

Personally, I think some of them are. But I also find some of them to be unbiased (or at least they try) and reasonable, presenting logical arguements that make sense to me.

I am therefore going to post some well-known talk show hosts, with the choice between.

A. Makes sense for the most part, and
B. Makes sense only rarely.

Glenn Beck makes the most sense to me.

Personally, I agree with Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity some of the time, and Michael Savage only rarely.

I chose those 3 hosts because they are the ones I get on my local talk radio station.

:doh I forgot Glenn Beck, I've only been able to listen to him a few times, but he does make alot of sense. (just not all the time)

my two favorites are:

The no spin Zone Bill O'Reilly
went to the same high school, and grew up only a few miles from his town

and

the High Priest of the Painful Truth - - Neal Boortz
streamed online at http://boortz.com
author of the Fair Tax Book

Savage can be entertaining, but...........please

my brother tried to turn me onto him, but everytime we turned it on
he was babbling about the god damned American Idol
got better things to do than to listen to someone babble about a show i despise

They're all idiots by the nature of the format. At least on television, they can have a few educated pundits (which most people think are boring) because you can pick up facial expressions to make it more interesting. But with talk radio, you're only hearing sound. So the format demands the most obnoxious, idiotic personalities to dominate the airwaves. Hence Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Michael Savage, Al Franken, etc.

The only radio personality who even comes close to discussing politics intelligently is Garrison Keillor...and he rarely discusses politics on the air.

The only truly informing talk radio shows that a reasoned and objective individual could even remotely rely on for accurate information on current events are on NPR.

I don't listen to talk radio.

I have listened to NPR occasionally, and I personally found it to be somewhat biased. IMO. But maybe I didn't listen long enough.

Personally, I find talk radio shows like Rush Limbaugh to be informative. I take everything I hear on his and any other show with a grain of salt.

I compare what I feel to be left-biased information with what I consider right-biased information, and try to find some truth.

I like Ed Schultz and Al Franken. They have been right while the ones listed haven't been right about anything yet.

I like MIchael Savage. He has the balls to say what he thinks and could care less about who he pisses off.

I am not so big on Franken, but I like Ed Schultz. Ed Schultz by far has the highest ratings of any liberal radio talk show host, and his ratings are on the rise, the more people who catch his show, the more people who like him. Then again, thats probably because the guy is so unlike most other liberal talk show hosts.

Hmm.

It seems to me that those who many would consider to be on the left of most issues like Liberal talk shows.

And those who many would consider to be on the right of many issues like Conservative talk shows.

This seems to point towards a conclusion that we like to hear confirmations of what we want to believe. Which is only natural.

But, I sometimes ask myself: Am I deluding myself? Are the points made by some of my favorite talk show hosts actually valid? Or are they some sort of twisted logic? Logic twisted to come out the way they want it?

I don't know. But I do know that talk show hosts like Rush Limbuagh, Sean Hannity, etc, are the ones that make sense to me.

Maybe that makes me a conservative. Probably.

But then again, I can't seem to find a liberal talk show host on my radio. Of course, I haven't looked much.

I subscribe to Podcasts from the followin talk show hosts: I like them all for different reasons.

Al Franken - Great regular guests: Lawrence O'Donnel, David Brock, Melanie Sloan, Christie Harvey, John Dickerson etc.

Thom Hartmann - Very well informed, regularly has civil debates with articulate members of the right. Prolific author.

Stephanie Miller - Hilarious back and forth from MENSA material to bathroom humor.

Ed Shultz - Not a big fan, he's kind of a simpleton, but his heart is in the right place and he's getting a big audience. ex-Republican. Ed get's good guests too.

The Young Turks - Only show that ever put Chomsky on. Too much silly sex talk, but I ff that. Cenk Uygur is a former Reagan republican't who came to the light.

Randi Rhodes (she's in my headphones as we speak) A little over the top sometimes, but tells it like it is for sure.

Bill Maher doesn't qualify for this poll but if he did that would be my vote.

Sure he's a comedian and not to be taken too seriously, but he can drive a nail home faster than anybody I know and make you laugh about things worth crying over.

i would have to vote for Jon Stewart or Colbert over Maher in that context

Maher, Colbert & Stewart are more in touch with the people that any "News" show is.
