So, thought this would be a good idea. Just a simple self-identification thread for all of our LGBT+ members. Thought it'd be nice to get to know one another and stuff.

I'll start, I'm a lesbian, as most of you know, but if you didn't, now you know.

Anyone else?

Simplest label for me is bi I think, but I don't necessarily rule out dating anyone on the basis of gender

True that bisexuals have twice as much chance of getting lucky?

Well, I'm a lesbian and that's about the only label I use.

It's the only label I really need. ^-^

I have been ruled some kind of queer by way of social consensus.

I don't ****ing care, honestly, and I resent the idea that there is an expectation to conform to in the first place. Not that "queer" isn't an awesome word, and there are certainly days when I want nothing more than to delineate myself from most of humanity, but it's just odd to me that it's still necessary in this day and age.

It's been said to me almost always in good faith, which is part of the reason I have difficulty claiming it, and you can see me vacillating on it a bit even in my posting history on DP; I haven't suffered for it. People leave me alone for the most part. So I kind of have a hard time saying I belong with people who haven't had such good fortune.

I am a reserved person, and to people who don't know me well, I "pass" easily enough. Well, I used to anyway. Things have changed a bit the last couple years...

Words? I just do what I want at a given time. There's been exceptions to every rule, and how I present swings over time. Whatever. What's that? Fluid? Whatever.

So, uhh... There's *my* little diatribe.

Oh hey, guess what? I don't live in a place where there are massacres every other day!

Yet.. Just banned sexy girls in commercials right? They'll be trying to throw you off rooftops before you know it..

Oh **** too bad you can't really have guns there.. Sucks to be you.. Remember who is responsible for that when reality comes a knockin..

Nope. Removed body-shaming ads from the Tube. Nothing else. Most cities do have restrictions on what ads can be placed on their public systems. Try reading.

How so? No one else has guns either, including the bobbies. Shootings are very rare here.

Although Britain's approach is not the only one that works. Other countries have done as well or better with a bit less restriction. Just sayin', the culture of death in the US is not an inevitability. It is something it simply chooses not to fix. Blaming the victims for not being afraid to leave their house without a gun is not a solution to said culture of death. It is simply promoting it.

But guns are not the topic of this thread, so I won't allow you to derail me any further.

I'm not going to declare my personal orientations so, all I will say is that you can know what I believe, which is what matters, from my posts and, I try to believe fairly regardless of sex, sexuality, religion, gender, colour or privilege. I fail at this a lot but, I try.

Despite my sig line, I would guess that I am heteroflexable. I use that since there have been a few trans girls I've dated or longed after. The other two components of the sig line are correct though.

As a side note, Queer no longer means homosexual. For some reason it has taken a different bent and those claiming Queer are saying it is different from gay. I haven't fully understood what it is now, save maybe someone with both a sliding gender identity and sliding orientation.

"Queer" is an extremely broad word. It potentially covers any non-hetero sexuality, and any non-normative gender identity.

It is used by groups as a simpler way of identifying the entirety of the LGBTLGISLERU community, or by individuals who either don't fit a more specific label, or don't wish to use a more specific label for one reason or another. I used it for both reasons, personally. At least on days where I feel at liberty to use it at all, which is not all of them.
