Is he your kind of role model you hope your kid emulates?

Is he your kind of role model you hope your kid emulates?

I have taught my now 6 year old grandchild from when he was 2 to not be like Trump.
I tell him when mischievous, " don't be a Donald!"

On a more serious note, my youngest daughter was 13 when Palin came on the scene . Try to explain to a 13 year old female how Sarah and her brood were the antithesis of everything she had ever been taught by us yet revered by the unwashed.
The GOP has been a nightmare for parents wanting to raise responsible, ethical, educated children
.

Trump embodies everything you DON'T want your children to be.

if my kid grew up to be like Donnie id dispose of them and myself to rid the world of my vile genetics

theres no stereotypical quality Donnie has that I would want for any human

integrity?
Honesty?
morals?
leadership?
accountability?
dependability?
slow to anger and level-headed?
resilient and thick-skinned?
humble?
kind?
caring?
unselfish?

hell no, id be a failure as a parent and or my child would be a failure as a human

No, he is not.

He is not very clever. He's like the proverbial bull in a china shop.

A more clever pol would have known how to have the media eating out of his hands. (President Kennedy knew how to charm reporters. His TV press conferences were such a delight.)

And he would have known how to strike fear in the hearts of his opponents. (I believe that President Lyndon Johnson had this knack.)

Hear tell it is so easy to get pols on your side. Just invite them to the White House and listen to them (even if you're going to ignore them). Heck, he could have had Nancy on his side with a little flattery {"You don't look a day over 60.")

And reporters can be bought for a few exclusive interviews (that reveal nothing of substance). One football team owner once said that newspaper reporters could be "bought" for just a good steak dinner.

The Don's biggest deficit, I feel, was his total lack of a sense of humor (except when he was ridiculing others, of course!).

I couldn't have said it better, than you did in the bolded!

Youngsters who have been taught to look and act like Trump are nothing short of a freak show.

There are a lot of people you could hold up to this standard, that SHOULD not be role models, but are.
Trump
Athletes
Rappers
Politicians in general
No, Trump has a special place all of his own when it comes to garbage.

Most of Americans would be lucky if their kids turned out as well as Trumps kids. Look how many boomers are raising their grandkids.

I like this post! Especially the Kennedy-LBJ references! (y)

Trump was stuck in a rut, because he set-out with an "Us & Them" mentality from day one. In fact, it appears to be a prime ideology of his. You can win re-election doing this, if, and only if, your "Us" is bigger than their "Them".

Unfortunately for Trump, that's where his calculus failed him . . .

NO, the liberals and unfair media bias created the "us and them" mentality!

The trusty old Boy Scout Law provides some insight into what makes a good person. A scout is:

Trustworthy
Loyal
Helpful
Friendly
Courteous
Kind
Obedient
Cheerful
Thrifty
Brave
Clean
Reverent

Now I'm a fairly straight guy. I was an Eagle scout, and I'd say on my best days I score about a 50% on that list, maybe a touch above.

Going through that list, I struggle to find anything I associate with Trump. I can't think of any efforts towards those ideals that didn't seem completely disingenuous.

You could say he's clean at first glance, because someone IS hosing him off regularly, but that also means morally clean, as in not cheating on multiple spouses with multiple prostitutes.

OK, well then that list would rule out most politicians and basically anyone in the political world for any length of time, right?

In talking to Trump supporters, I have learned most of them know that Trump is obviously a vicious and vile human being who is corrupt, a bully, and auffers from malignant narcissism. But he is THEIR vile human being in the culture war. He knows how to “own the libs”. It’s like buying a rabid pit bull to guard you against your enemies. That doesn’t mean you want your kid to grow up and be a rabid pit bull.

Yes, there's clearly no requirement to have good people as politicians, but we can still judge.

Most good people wouldn't want the job, and the people who DO are mostly not good people.

This is a big part of our problem. We reward the wrong people for the wrong reasons.

Trump should have been drummed out of polite society in the '90s with his casino bust-outs. We had plenty of warnings with this goof.

No, Trump has a special place all of his own when it comes to garbage.
I would have accepted Yes, BUT

In this case, are you arguing that the listed are good role models?
The thread isn't about athletes and rappers, its about Trump and whether or not he's a good role model for our children..

With the Trump "Us" being corrupt swindlers and their dupes. The Trump dupes are so duped that even legal rulings against him such as in defrauding the students of Trump U, where he was forced to pay them back or face further legal action, and emptying bank accounts of supporting donors with hidden options turned on at the website goes unnoticed.

Its called the decline of western civilization.

So just just can't help being swindled.

Yes, which was expanded to include others that shouldn't be role models. Otherwise this is such a simple thread which results in a Yes, or No answer.
