Seems like back when I was a fan of the Republicans, they at least pretended to care about the disadvantaged. The argument back then was basically, "Teach a man to fish don't just hand him a free meal." But, it didn't take long to figure out what that was all about--a bunch of crap.
Why?

Well, that's obvious, the Right had no intention of educating the disadvantaged. They've proven that much with their plans to defund public education while handing vouchers to people willing to toe their line. The Right is about Power and greed. Power over people and feeding the greedy who run the charter schools that pass RW Muster.

And, that leads me to why I left the Republican Party. The idea of education on the Right is to teach that the Flood was real and that Evolution is a Liberal conspiracy. They want the idiots dependent on them to believe in Intelligent Design not running around practicing the dangerous activity called Critical Thinking. It wasn't rocket science...in fact, the Right still prayed to keep the candles lit. It was the left who pursued higher learning. Hell, if it wasn't for a couple of ex-Nazis, we'd still be on the ground.

So what do we have left? We have a party that keeps people down. In GOP world, if you're not born into wealth, you better do as they say and then they throw you a few crumbs. And, your education? Well, it won't involve biology. It won't include geology. And, it most certainly will not involve and World History. The last thing the Right wants is to pass onto the next generation anything resembling factual regarding history, be it World or US. Nope. That definitely is not happening.

The GOP aims to keep the poor ignorant and dependent on psalms. Because, we know this, if it "weren't in the Byebull, tit aint in no ways real."

Not to mention the Democrats who are delaying the healthcare requirement for unions, large companies, and Congress plus their staffers a full year but not doing the same for individual citizens thus allowing large companies to drop their workers from their healthcare coverage so that the individual HAS to buy gov't insurance therefore pushing all of the costs down to the individual while the rich get richer. Did you get all that?

Yeah. Good Old Rightie, misinformed as always.

Obama administration denies labor’s request for health care waiver
The unions have mounted an aggressive effort to change the administration's mind. They argue that their plans serve a different purpose, and a different group, than traditional employer-based plans, and they deserve a waiver. That would make the plans extremely, even uniquely, attractive to employers, as they would receive both the favorable tax treatment afforded to employer-based plans and the premium subsidies available on the exchanges.

...Tonight, the effort failed. A senior administration official tells me that the administration "does not see a legal way for individuals in multiemployer group health plans to receive individual market tax credits as well as the favorable tax treatment associated with employer-provided health insurance at the same time." A Treasury Department letter is being released that lays out the administration's reasoning in more detail.

See, that lack of education thing I mentioned is real. The Right aims to keep folks dumbed down.

You may want to switch affiliations like I did. THe Right is keeping you in the dark. At the very least, start reading crap other than Fox online.

BTW: THe Congress thing has been debunked to. But, I'll leave that to you to find. I'm sick of educating you people.

You know, the thing that pisses me off is that not only are you wrong, but you're a prick about it. Especially when I didn't perpetuate that towards you.

That's simply not true. There are certainly those that think that way, but the vast majority of people on the Right don't

Is that why they want to cut food stamps for the poor while holding onto tax cuts for the rich? Is that why they want to ban the teaching of evolution in public schools in the state of Kansas? Is that why they don't want to lower interest rates on student loans and shut down public schools?

Most people on the right do not want to ban the teaching of evolution.

Sometimes no matter how much you teach people won't learn. There are things that can't be taught. Sometimes you need to push the kids into the lake in order to teach them to swim.

I wish that was true.
In the United States, the states of Texas, Minnesota, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, Missouri, South Carolina, and Alabama require in their science standards "students critically analyze key aspects of evolutionary theory."[1] Two other states, Louisiana and Mississippi, have adopted legislation allowing teachers and students to discuss scientific evidence critical of evolution.

What do you see there? I see Red States. That's what I see.

why do you think that keeping people addicted to government handouts is helping them? it helps those who get their votes

Minnesota, New Mexico, and Pennsylvania are red states?

I stand by my statement. Sure there's a group of people out there highly motivated against evolution, but they are the minority.

Minnesota is home of Michelle Bachmann, a pure religious nut if ever there was one. PA is Alabama with Pittsburgh and Philly as bookends. New Mexico...well, it's an enigma.

This argument about helping the poor shows a big disconnect between the left and the right. The right in survey after survey has been shown to donate more of their time, energy and their own money to charities helping the poor than those on the left. This is ideology driven. The role of government. The left wants government programs to help the poor, which usually means taxpayer dollars or as some cynics state, using other peoples money. So the right does help the poor but in a different way than the left.

I would say back in the 50’s when I grew up, individuals helping other individuals took place all the time without the government. Then there were the charities, Jaycees, Kiwanis, Red Cross, Salvation Army, Goodwill, and on and on. Can, food drives, clothes drives etc were done all the time by churches and schools. Family took care of family, neighbors took care of their neighbors and communities took care of their own so to speak.

But today the country has changed from a rural and agrarian to urban and city. It was in the 50’s when the urban population finally overtook the rural. The population of the country has more than doubled since then from around 150 million to 320 million or more. Would the simple things we did for each other back in the 50’s’ work today if that was all there were? I don’t have the answer to that. But this is a different time and this is a different country and perhaps some government programs are needed.

But to say the right ignores the poor is simply wrong. Their help just comes in a different form than government assistance or a government program.

I suspect that only works with dogs.

So California has Darrel Issa. Texas has Sheila Jackson Lee. Can't judge a state by one rep.

WHY?...because after we taught a man to fish the Liberal/progressive folks continued to 'hand him a free meal'. Why in the world once having learned how to fish would one need to if he keeps getting this 'free meal'...?

I wish that was true.

your own quotes dont show them banning teaching of evolution,it sayd they are allowed to anylize it and use critical analyzise.dont know how you came to that conclusion you had unless you believe anything but 100% full agreement =outright ban.

further evolution should be subjected to evaluation,as the theory itself has constantly changed due to ever advancing scientific discoveries.if science cant be evaluated or criticized, and runs on a theory of being absolute, then it is no different than religion.

What a simply silly statement. There is no effort to defund public education, there is simply an effort to allow American families the right to choose where they want to send their own children... and use the revenues each local taxing authority allows for students to follow that student to where a parent wants to send their children...that is called choice, freedom of choice. The public education system is one of the most socialistic institutions in our nation. Even with school districts making many decisions, the Feds have their hands into the funding just enough that they tip things in a very liberal manner, force things upon children that children have no need for, indoctrination by the state, and for which many parents would love an alternative.

Why do you think the state, and perhaps people who think just like you, should be able to force the rest of us into thinking just like you. How boring is that...??? Very. How would you like it if the situation were suddenly reversed, and all children were forced into religious schools, no matter what their parents thought?

Why is it people of a liberal bent just have that need to force the rest of us? Kinda totalitarian don't you think? But then again, history does prove that out I guess...

We are not for cutting food stamps to the poor, we are for cutting food stamps given out in an apparent effort to addict us all in myriad ways to the government teat.

Republicans want fairness in the tax code, not just 51% paying in and 49% only taking out...that is not a system that will continue to work as the 51% will dwindle when they get tired of doing all the work for the other half.

Slow change over time very definitely should be taught in public schools ...as it is beyond just an unproven theory...it can actually be observed/proven and is utilizable science. Evolutionary origins should not even be broached until college where, if you believe that or want to study the ever changing and almost religious belief systems of those who posit that we all just came about somehow, without a creator, well, that should be left until someone chooses to learn that bunk and spend their own money for that if they want.

What exactly have Democrats done for the poor? Seriously.

I'm not talking about free handouts, or other trivialities that only "prop up" the poor and keep them right at the level they're at. I want to know exactly what Democrats have done to solve the "poor problem."

Have they somehow made any of these poor people rich?
Have they successfully lowered the teen pregnancy rate?
Have they solved the drug problem?
Have they solved the gang problem?

See...the way I see it, Democrats might not be ignoring them, but they certainly aren't interested in "helping" the poor. They want the poor right where they're at...poor and reliant on government. Why? Once someone learns that they can care for themselves, without those handouts and trivialities, then that's one less voter who's guaranteed to vote "Democrat." To the leftists, knowledge is the enemy. Keep 'em poor. Keep 'em on welfare. Keep 'em on food stamps. Keep the media focused on blaming Republicans for everything. Make these voters understand that without Mother Government, they're nothing.

They're exactly like drug dealers, except they deal welfare instead of drugs. Their clients are hopelessly hooked on it, so the client will do anything for their "fix." Even vote away the freedoms they think they have.

I'd like to see a demographic that shows how many welfare recipients consider themselves "Democrat" or not. I'd be willing to bet it's a number around 90% or so.

1. Feel good story. And, you guys say Liberals are delusional.

2. From those who much is given much is expected.

3. Evolution is fact. Origin of life is conjecture. So, yes. Origin of life be it ambiogenisis or creationism is not meant for HS science. Origin of species, that all earthly beings came from a common ancestor, however is.

Vouchers which help fund religious schools at the expense of public schools is throwing the poor under a bus unless they toe the parochial line.

Schools should be uniform across the country so that all kids get an equal chance at the brass ring.

One thing is obvious...you didn't get educated in your formative years. Your logic sucks, you are hung up on people's personal choice of their religion, you are prone to hyperbole...and you are just plain wrong.
