I get where you're coming from. If it weren't for my kids over the years , I wouldn't have participated in any holidays. Christmas is particularly painful, but my kids deserve good memories for holidays like that. Once they are grown and gone...not sure what I'm going to do.
There's an up side to ignoring holidays, hon. Without expectations that holidays frequently elicit, there's no disappointment... and I must say, I don't miss the stress and strain of massive preparations/expense that many holidays entail. Besides, you might be fortunate enough that your kids won't end up living 4,000 miles away, like mine did!
