Just thought I formally introduce myself before I find myself posting on yet another thread. I'm really honored to be here, to be discussing amongst everyone. I've been trying to find an appropriate forum where I can share my political views without being subjected to bigotry and closed-mindedness. I have found a few forums that are more than nice, but they lack the quality of serious debate. And I guess that's why I ended up here, and I'm glad.
A little bit about me: I'll admit my views are quite liberal, but I do not affiliate myself to either party. I love history, and I hate propaganda. I love religion and appreciate its art, but I'm an athiest, though technically I qualify as an agnostic. The name that I have chosen for this forum comes from the Taoist influence in me. As one of the teachings in Daoism goes, one must be in harmony with the opposites of the world to achieve ultimate happiness.
Light/Demon, a conjunction of light and dark, evil and good. One compliments the other. Where there is a valley, there is sure to be a mountain. When there is day, there is also night. One must be able to adapt to both ends of the spectrum. Another saying in Taoism goes something like this: A block of wood is most adaptive. When you carve it, it's shape becomes defined. It loses its adaptive quality once its shape is final. Thus, it is most advatageous that you remain a block of wood, so that you can still adapt to changes.
From this last Taoist teaching, I try not to totally define who I am, I leave room for growth. As well, I leave a bit of mystery behind because of it. Lightdemon serves me well, since I am no demon, nor am I of total virtue, though I have to be somewhere in between or both! I have no shape, and I either have all or no meaning.
Oh, and please do not confuse me with what is known as an oxymoron
