I need a follower or someone who understands the Prosperity Gospel which has come to my attention. I don't understand it. Educate me.

As I understand it, it is not a gospel, but a movement of conservative protestantism based on selected passages of the bible. Most of the things Jesus said warned about the corrupting effect of wealth. But proponents of the "prosperity gospel" pull out a few selected passages and they argue that God wants us to be rich and comfortable, so don't feel guilty about owning that 230 foot yacht while you vote against the minimum wage your dock hands make. A bit a hyperbole there, but not much.

I've read the same on the Prosperity Gospels. It seems to be more of a cross between Jesus's teachings and Darwinism. They tend to cherry pick bible passages that suit their lifestyles so they feel better about themselves, like most Christians.

The Prosperity Gospel aka "Health & Wealth" aka "Name-It-And-Claim-It" is a cornerstone of the Faith Movement. It is ominously and deeply dangerous to Christian Faith because at its core, it redefines God, the work of Christ, and our relationship with sin. It is deceptive and heretical. It's great Prophets are Benny Hinn, Paul Crouch and Kenneth Copeland et al.

At it's essence it says that WE are God and that through faith, we manipulate God to give us all the goodies of this world...wealth, health and any other thing our heart desires. God is a genie in a bottle and is compelled to give us whatever we want.

A FORMER prophet is the infamous Jimmy Baker who wrote a terrific book I Was Wrong

hah, the masses of people are believing such bullshit. As usual, 99 percent of the population are fish.

Don't believe people when they say they can talk to the dead, know the future, have powers, and especially don't believe anyone who says they are a prophet... Such people (prophets) are most likely satanist and don't even know it .

There is usually an incentive for people to take on professions or claim to be prophets. Such as money, idolization, and personal agendas.

Hilarious, tons of people (idiots) believe that a priest can heal. When there is absolutely no proof, they are misguided masses that let other people think for them.

Excellent post, Rev.
Although I'm an atheist, I admire your ascetic and inflexible adherence to your version of Christianity.
The Bible, as written, is not a real friendly, huggy-touchy, "feel good" document.
If one truly believes it is the word of God, then one must accept it as it is written, even if one finds it uncomfortable or inconvenient.
All else is hypocrisy.
I don't like hypocrites, and you're not one.

What would be neat is someone who is a member and follower of this cult and they could defend it. I'm guessing the average 'get rich with Jesus' disciple would do very poorly and use a choice cut verse or two and that's it.

As a minister friend of mine is fond of saying, "That'll preach!"

Thanks for the compliments. It means a lot to me.
