No, I'm not going to make a formal poll with choices to check off. Let this be free form and get creative.

What do you think is the biggest waste of time in the national dialogue today?

Tired of hearing about that dead teenaged slut in Aruba? Did something like the Peterson trial or the Micheal Jackson trial make you reach for the barf bag before the TV remote? How about Martha Stewart? How about Jon Stewart?

So what's your least favorite discussion, and why is it irrelevant?

Anything related to hollywood, athletics, or "celebrities" in general.

Its not important because much to their disagreement, they aren't important.

Can't disagree with you there, Hollyweird, and the antics of the things that make their living off it, are bouncing off the bottom.

Yet those same idiots are major players in the battle for control of public opinion. Moore's "Fahrenheit 22.6" is a good example of that.

Gay marriage....

Much adoo over nothing.

Really, who gives a plug nickle if homos get married? (Except for Jimmyjack and a few others. ) BFD.

It's just a diversion to rally the religious right and take their minds off of more important matters (which is a very easy thing to do) and a rightwing ploy to manipulate elections by drawing those people out to vote when they would normally stay home. We ALL know who those folks usually vote for too.

This forum seems to differ with that view. It seems this topic comes up weekly on this forum and is usually initiated by somebody that has a pro-gay marriage agenda. I'm pretty new however, so maybe I haven't seen a big enough sample but so far that appears to be the nature of this site.

It's not a "pro-gay marriage agenda", it's a pro-freedom agenda. I don't care what those people do, and since it's none of my business, I don't see why they can't do it. So it actually has ramifications.

The ongoing war against recreational drugs. What a waste of time & taxpayer dollars. What - if anything - has been the return on such an investment? These arcane laws have turned thousands (if not millions) of otherwise law-abiding, tax paying, employed, voting citizens into criminals & filled the penal system beyond bulging. There's almost no room left for the true criminals - murders, rapsits, politicans ...

The war on drugs is a part of national dialogue? Coulda fooled me. I haven't heard anybody seriously talking about it in.....well, in my entire life. Sure, there's some of us on the fringe pointing out the obvious, but they're all so marginalized they might as well be wearing tin foil hats and talking about alien mind control. No, the dust has settled on the matter, and I fully expect Bush to commit seppuku before the idea of rescinding the war on drugs is taken seriously.

- Handwringing about the "extreme, far, ultra, way out there, really fringe religious fundamentalists", and their cunning diabolical plot to organize themselves and (gasp! oh, the horror!) cast votes.

- The idiotic liberal press Bush scandal du jour, such as why didn't Cheney IMMEDIATELY, right after the gunsmoke cleared, hold a press conference and tell an eager waiting world that he had a hunting accident???

Nobody is discussing the negative impact of commercials. I wish they would though. Commericials are worse than UBL.

You mean you don't want to be fully informed about femine hygiene?
