What's Obama done to alienate the right so much?

I don't understand it. Obama hasn't done anything that would classify him as a socialist, communist, antichrist, or whatever else he's accused of.

He tried to allow gay men and women to serve in the military openly, then flopped like a dead fish. He tried to pass real healthcare reform, then flopped again and passed a bill that was largely fluff. He did end the war in Iraq...kind of, with tens of thousands of US troops still there. And meanwhile 30,000 more soldiers were sent to Afghanistan.

He hasn't been a progressive in the terms of standing up against discrimination, in ending war, or in making a world that distributes wealth
Not extending TEMPORARY tax cuts for a very small % of the population and now he's a socialist? \

Or is it just that no matter who want the inevitable accusation of selling this country out to communist china was coming from the right?

It doesnt matter what he does or doesnt do. He's a secret Nazi Commie since day 1. AND WE KNEW IT.

There is no reason to take it seriously. It's an adolescent strategy called, "since I don't have the facts, I will control the mood". Such statements are geared to make people angry or to frustrate people so they will feel compelled to explain what socialism actually is. Teenagers do the same thing when they yell things like "you don't love me!" when they don't get what they want from their parents. It's about pushing emotional buttons and shifting the topic, not about making a valid or competent argument.

Healthcare is seen as a right. Progressive taxes. Remember that spread the wealth comment? I see Obama as a socialist, much as I see the Democrats, Republicans, and most Americans as socialists. They all want to intervene in the economy to make it fairer.
 
the better question is what has he done to ingratiate himself with everyone else?

He came from my state - and his accomplishments in my state are nonexistent. He represents an empty suit to me. All fluff and no substance and as such he embodies everything that is wrong with the political climate today.

I'm not honestly sure what the big fuss is really about. Obama keeps benefiting the rich business owners and screwing everyone else, just like our leaders have been doing since the 80's (and probably longer). I suppose the difference is that he wants it to be a little less blatant, and he's not as gung ho about killing Muslims.

Truly, I have not seen a single thing done in the last two years that comes off as anything besides "slightly more reasonable conservative." Our center in this country is shifted WAY to the right, so that anything to help the poor or somehow hold businessmen accountable for the damage they cause is equated to a Stalin-esque vision.

Well gee... let me think.. Off the top of my head, he has called me a bitter clinger, the enemy and has told me to sit in the back. He's tried to make me believe I'm too stupid to know what is good for me....if only he could get his message out better, I would see the light.

I'm white, but my family isn't. They detest Obama as I do, and for the same reasons.

Leftists raise the question of race at their peril. They face the same reaction as the Boy Who Cried Wolf. When the Wolf finally did show up, nobody believed the boy's cry for help, and the boy was eaten.

False accusations of racism directed against those who oppose Obama's dystopic vision of America effectively alienate and estrange different groups from each other. In any event I no longer give a spit.

He could have allowed gays to serve openly in the military. Could have stood firm, but did not, listening to the rights BS hysteria about the issue.

He could have shoved through a universal healthcare plan, instead gave in to try and help the right deal with it and well, what we got was some hogwsh bill that neither side likes.

He could have ended the wars in the middle east...Instead he expanded one of them.

He could have invested massively in solar energy and cap and trade and battery tech, instead he gave in to the rights hysteria and went with Nuclear Power.

He could have ended off shore drilling...Instead he expanded it (until it blew up on him).

Now he stands firm, FREEZING FEDERAL WAGES IN A GODDAMN RECESSION!!! I didn't vote for a punk republican, this **** is pissing me off. I just cannot, for the life of me, understand why Republicans act like he's the antichrist. It is ALL rhetoric, Obama has done NOTHING socialist, communist, or even democrat.

No, you are not talking about Obama, you are confusing him with his followers.

He obviously doesn't see healthcare as a "right," or else we'd all be covered by now wouldn't we? And this "progressive" taxation you speak of is merely letting some tax cuts expire like they were designed for. Obama no more wants to intervene in the economy than a Republican like Bush who started TARP.

The major difference between Obama and just about any mainstream Republican in office is that he has a capital "D" by his name.

Most of the policies the Right complains about, where also done by the previous Republican administration, but they didn't complain then.
