If you were Obama. What would he need to do before you gave him a begrudging "I guess he's doing alright..."

He needs to stand up to conservatives more (including the ones in the democratic party). He has given up too many battles and hasn't taken a tough enough negotiation stance to get really get stuff fixed.

Norly, be specific. What would you DO. Not vague campaign promises.

I have really high standards, so for him to be doing alright, would mean that he would be ostracized by both Democrats and Republicans.

I'd cut defense spending in half, at least.
Full fill the obligations to those about to retire on SS but end the system.
Same with Medicare.

I'd nationalize medical graduate standards but repeal all the laws in regards to controlling the supply of doctors.
Largely get rid of most cabinet and czar positions.

That's all assuming I'm dictator.
If not a dictator, I'd lean in favor of those things and press for legislation in those areas.

Admit that the economy is failing and stay out of the way to let things correct themselves. I'd also support securing the border rather than attacking those who try to secure their land.

... on day 62, he should have dressed in his blue sweater ...

After all he's ****ed up at this point, he would need to step aside completely. There's no reconciliation for some of the stuff he's already pulled.

And SO not the point. What would YOU do better. Specifically. How would you have handled it.

I'd like to see him undo some of the things that Bush was hated for, such as warrantless wiretaps. He also should've cut spending. Bush spent waaaaaay too much and Obama should've reduced it sharply.

And SO is the point. There's nothing he could do to make me say "good job" at this point.

That's what your OP asked. That's what I answered.

I said if YOU were Obama. Therefore.

****. Is the full moon continuing?

What does "if you were Obama" have to do with "what could he do to make you say he's doing an ok job"?

Try parsing your sentences and make sure they ask what you want them to ask before you start blathering on about full moons. It's not my fault you don't know how to direct a question.

Yeah, I'll do that right after you drop the ****ing rape quote. Have some sensitivity, ffs.

Get over it. You don't even know what the **** it's from. I got your sensitivity right here in my signature.

Read what the Constitution says, not what he thinks it should say, and then govern by it..... but I'm with jallman on this, the boy has gone to far to be able to come back.

Good question BDBoop. I believe that our President needs to keep the Bush tax cuts and reduce government spending. Leave the free market to create the jobs; this is not the job of the government to employ 1/2 the country. What happens with so much government growth without growth in government revenue is what we see going on in Europe. Socialist nations are going bankrupt. Our President is spending government dollars that the government doesn't have.

follow the constitution as it was intended to be followed. most of what he does is a violation of the constitution. He should get rid of that idiotic healthcare nonsense. Extend and increase the bush tax adjustments and push for the end of progressive income taxes which give congress way too much power. appoint more judges like Roberts and less like QuotaMayor. do the job in afghanistan quickly and then GTF out of there. abolish the department of education. Radically scale back the power of some pernicious bureaucracies such as the EPA. don't bail out corrupt wall street firms or put their tax cheat directors into major government positions

1. admit the stimulus was a failure, take the unspent money and turn it towards debt-reduction. privatize freddie, fannie, gm, etc. and turn any money gained from the sale towards debt reduction. in conjunction with this; no new spending.
2. reimpose the Mexico City policy
3. admit that Obamacare is the worst of both worlds and push for it's repeal
4. announce that the arbitrary timeline for Afghanistan fuels our enemies, weakens our allies, demoralizes our troops, and endangers our nation and is thus no longer in effect
5. put us on a path back towards growth by simplifying the tax code; either a flat tax or a national sales tax (a'la the Fair Tax) replacing the current tax code would be optimal; but i will take any moving back to a graduated progressive tax code with very few holes and breaks in it.

at that point, i'll give him grudging respect, and consider voting for him if the Republicans put up a fool in 2012. in order to get my active support:

6. reduce government expenditures drastically through immediate deep cuts to nonessential and non-Constitutional government functions. we are talking about getting rid of entire departments.
7. push to put us on the path towards long-term fiscal sanity by pushing for partial privatization / benefit reduction in our entitlement programs
8. revoke the executive order that gives federal employees the right to form unions
9. give Iran a very specific and very short deadline. when they break it (and they will), bomb them.
10. defend our southern border and push for an automatic $5,000 fine or 1-year sentence for employees found to be knowingly hiring illegals per head
11. publicly disavow cap-and-tax
12. unilaterally revoke all non-sanctions-related trade barriers

and so forth.

Cut 40% out of the budget, mostly out of social spending. Okay, I'll settle at 20%.

Close the border with Mexico, by whatever means necessary, and start the cleanup on illegals already in.

Bomb the **** out of everything in Iran marked "nuclear..."

Renew the Bush tax cuts and make them permanent.

Repeal this Obamacare monstrosity. Pass "insurance portability/choice" allowing buyers to look to out of state insurors for better pricing.

Pass a "full faith and credit" national reciprocity bill for state issued CCW.

Apologize to Britain for being a bitch and ask them if they want a hand with the falklands thing. Oh, yeah, and get the Queen a decent gift to make up for the last one!

Yeah, that'll do for a start. Next year he can work on doing away with the fed-ed bureau, auditing the fed-reserve and dismantling the BATfE.

1. Nuke the Patriot Act
2. Put a halt to all Federal Enforcement of Drug laws
3. Void all federal gun restrictions
4. Return to a hard currency, put Ben Bernanke in a cage to fight a bear
5. Withdrawal and close all foreign bases
6. Nuke all tax payer foreign aid
7. Secure the borders
8. Dismantled split up Homeland Security into its original departments before the merger after 9/11
9. Remove TSA from all Airports. Airports will be required to provide its own security
10. All entitlement programs nuked at the federal level
12. End Cuban and other trade embargos
