What Will Happen In Cuba After Castro Dies?

a.) His brother Raul or someone else takes over, and things carry on as before.

b.) They become a (capitalist) democracy, with the current bureaucracy leading the way, much like it happened in Eastern Europe.

c.) They remain Communist, but allow the option of electing representatives.

d.) Other - explain?

Also, what do you think it will take for the US to break the embargo?

I think Fidel is already dead... they just glued a cigar to his lips and they're moving him around like a ventriloquist act. Like that movie Weekend At Bernie's.

ROFL you know I've heard alot of Cubans actually say that(My wife is cuban)? Except they go "He's been dead since 1995, they move him with strings like a puppet"

I've been to Cuba(dont tell the goverment) the state of mind down there is that if the U.S. tries to invade in anyway. They'll start the Caribean version of Iraq. Apparently there was a state adress by Fidel when he was still walking where he said : " For every American killed in Iraq we'll kill 5 ". The Idea that "The Cuban People Are Oppressed Hate Fidel." is so far removed from what the reality of the island is that it's almost retarded.

Not that I am proposing doing it, but I seriously doubt that an invasion of Cuba would be anything like the invasion of Iraq for many different reasons.

D) They remain a one-party state and ostensibly call themselves "communist," despite implementing Chinese-like capitalist reforms and creating a booming economy.

raul will most likely take over and things will prob stay the same

They become capitalist but the only benefit to the US is a few decent middle infielders.

Depends on who you talk to. My father in law is a 50 year old Cuban and my nephews in law are around my age(16-22)(thats one of the reasons I go my family in law is Cuban). Most of the younger generations are tired of the lack of opportunity there is. The older people(Between 30-60) realize there are a million problems in the current system and that there needs to be some kind change. Cuba has sealed itself from most of the world. They've had the same "either they're with us or against us" the U.S. has exhibited in the last couple of years and have only decided to open themselves up to the EU/Japan in the last 2 decades. However the idea that Cubans are constantly oppressed and watched and that they want a 180 degree change in the regime is pretty far away from the actual reality.
