Observe what we are seeing in France and other countries in Europe. Right now it is worse in France, but what we are seeing happens with all socialist countries. THEY HAVE RUN OUT OF OTHER PEOPLES MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Socialism has killed approx 100,000,000 people and ruined the lives of hundreds of millions more. It simply doesnt work.

Its rather comical to note that what France was attempting to enact is the very policies that those are now rioting over demanded.

Instead we need to have the .05% run and ruin the lives of hundreds of millions of people.

There are no socialist countries in Europe.

You're welcome.

The riots are to stop the application of taxes intended to modify behavior through taxation to fight the scourge of Global Warming.

The good people of France are rioting to have France drop their allegiance to the Paris Accords.

This is actually kind of funny on various levels.

Not totally socialist but run their countries with socialist policies like universal healthcare etc. With obscenely high taxes. Some countries tax citizens overall around 50%.

Socialism has never killed anyone. Ideologies don’t kill, actions do.

Macron decided to implement changes that France needs, make it more business friendly, but as you can see are incredibly unpopular. Macron is the president France needs, but doesn't want.

Socialist policies can be good for a country in moderation. Investing in consumers (universal healthcare, subsidized education, minimum wage, etc.) is investing in demand. Lowering taxes on business is investing in supply. High taxes on businesses hurt supply not demand. Low wages hurt demand, which automatically hurts supply. With a high enough demand, supply takes care of itself no matter how high the taxes are. With a low demand, no amount of investment in supply (lowering taxes on business) will create jobs or boost the economy.

Thanks for that pearl of ignorance. Could you, pray tell, explain why the Commuist/Socialist China is the World's leading economy?

When the French ever do actually figure out what they want, wake me up will ya'. Until then...

That rabble in France is so disorganized that they make ANTIFA look like a well oiled machine. These "protests" are entirely spontaneous or driven by an Internet posting that can come from anywhere. They are so disorganized that the National Police cannot even identify who Macron could talk to if he wanted to negotiate with some form of Protest "leadership". Some are protesting about plastic bottles though I can'e even actually be sure what end of the plastic bottle issue they are protesting. Some protesting about the gas tax, some about wages, some about every tom dick and larry thing that might upset a Frenchman. That could include everything from the texture of croissants to nuclear power on any given day.

The French National Police are no slouches. They are pretty hard nosed. Make no mistake, if they can't even find somebody for Macron to talk to, there isn't anybody.

It is basically the French national sport, they see other people rioting, they figure why not join in and complain about their own stuff.

That irony is not lost on some of us. 8t makes me wonder if the people are as far left as their gov is.

Socialism ends up that way once corruption sets in. I like the concept of everyone pitching in to help one another but the problem with it is finding a practice application of it that is self sustaining. It has a parasitic quality to it that requires a host to feed off of, therein lies the problem. It is the a pyramid scheme of sorts that falls apart once the base decides it does not want to be the workhorse of the group.

By that metric there are no captilist countries either. They are all blends to various degrees.

You're confused. Macron is a former investment banker who enacted business-friendly changes and cut taxes on the rich.

Now if you cut taxes on the rich, then raise taxes on gasoline the poor see it as a regressive tax levied on them instead of the rich.

France is a mixed economy just like ours and just like every other developed nation. You're talking about issues you don't understand.

Since you brought up universal healthcare I want to use it to point out a dirty little secret about the unintended consequences of socialism. Socialists despise corporate welfare but universal healthcare is corporate welfare just like SS and MC are.

Traditionally companies competed for the best talent from the labor pool by offering employees better benefits than their competitors. Now they dont offer great healthcare or fantastic pensions. They tell their employees to get on the gov sole for those benefits. These programs are massive blanket corporate welfare programs being sponsored by tax payers.

It creates the problem of motivating people to pursue productive lifestyles. Why bother when you can live off of OPM (other peoples money). This becomes a self destructive problem for a society.

All developed modern economies in the world today have various degrees of socialist policies and safety nets for their citizens. The world gave up on pure free markets back in the early 20th century. It was not because it was working well.

Did you steal that from the NRA and replace the word guns with socialism. Lol I give you points for being clever

He is watching the hosts they been feeding off leaving and looking for new ones. Mark my words it will happen here to states like California eventually. Once the tech industry abandons silicon valley they will begin to shift back to conservatism. As places like Texas become blue places like California will become red. Its part of the genius of our system of gov

Agreed in principle but I would parse with you on details. For instance I would argue universal healthcare and even health insurance in the form of HMOs and PPOs are pure poison to society.

Is it about money alone or do you factor in quality of life. Have you ever seen how they put fencing around high rise outside stairwells to prevent people from do headers off them. Suicide rate is a problem there. China is our advisory but I got nothing against their people. I do however feel for the living conditions they live in.

The French culture deserves more respect than you are giving them. Many great things were born from them. Sure we argue about things but they are as much our philosophic siblings as is England. If were not for the French America may not of won our freedom.
