What Was The Last Movie You Watched and Rate it!

Abe (2019) - IMDb Family cooking drama about a kid who is half Jewish and half Palestinian and tries to cook a meal to make his warring families seek peace. A good premise ruined by poor execution. Some of the food presented is good, but the acting and the chemistry is subpar. All in all, meh. 4.5/10

Knives Out (2019) - IMDb What starts out as a standard Agatha Christie murder mystery with an all star cast unravels and becomes a sort of heist film in the middle to the end. I didnt like it at all. The production values are good, as are some of the acting, while others are just completely bad. I think they put in too much comedy and it became a farce instead. 4/10

Greyhound (2020) - IMDb Tom Hanks movie which he plays a Navy captain in charge of a destroyer escorting a convoy in WW2. Its basically one long action sequence. Old fashioned war movie where the good guys are good, and the bad guys are bad. Its fast paced, but the direction is a bit shoddy and awkward. Battle sequences are somewhat unbelievable since its fiction. Also somewhat repetitive and could have been edited better. Rating: 6/10

The Outpost (2020) - IMDb Scott Eastwood stars as a soldier guarding an outpost in Afghanistan. The battle is based on a true story, but the movie is overly long, and the actual incident doesnt start until the movie is halfway done- if they had made this into a 90 minute movie instead of 2+ hours it would have been better. Action sequences are good, though I wonder why Orlando Bloom's character arc was included in the first place. Rating: 6/10

Patient Zero

This is the one with Stanley Tucci. I love zombie movies - but there are only a few that aren't so cheesy. I was not disappointed with this one.......
........in fact, I enjoyed it. Zombies have come a long way.

Last night I watched The Lodgers (2017) which is a gothic horror tale set in Ireland after The Great War (1920). I found it trying hard to be atmospheric in the same vein as The Others (2001) but it fails because the plot takes too long to become clear. This was the fault of the director who was unable to develop the story incrementally. It could have been spookier and although the three principal actors did well, they were merely taking up space at times when no one, especially the audience, knew what was supposed to be happening. I grade it as a C.

Doctor Sleep

8/10

They did a great job of tying in Kubricks masterpiece and Kings novel into a neat package, some 3 hours long.

Saw Gone with the Wind FOR THE FIRST TIME.

I was pleased HBO returned the film back to streaming. Cinema is art, and this film is a masterpiece. Not a word that can be used often with films from that Era.

If you are into historical movies: watch “The Young Victoria” - about the rise of a young Queen Victoria (at 18 years old) to the throne in 19th century England; the palace politics and intrigue, including opposition and scheming by her own mother, her meeting and marriage to Prince Albert, etc... great story, with very lush costumes, settings, etc.... the coronation ceremony was beautifully and majestically depicted. 8/10

Doctor Sleep

One of the rare times when Hollywood doesn't **** up a King/novel-based movie.

White sun of the desert. Eastern
It is a tradition for Soviet and Russian cosmonauts to watch this movie before the flight.

Da 5 Bloods (2020) - IMDb Spike Lee movie about old Vietnam War vets coming back to Vietnam on a heist run with a ton of gold they buried when they were soldiers. Its much too long, and too convoluted for me to be enjoyable. dragged in parts too. Rating 4.5/10

The Old Guard (2020) - IMDb A Highlander rip off without the cool historical stuff or even an explanation about where these immortals come from. The characters are stock types, and the story is run of the mill. Bad all around. Not even Charlize Theron could save this movie. Rating: 1/10

Inmate #1: The Rise of Danny Trejo (2019) - IMDb A very uplifting documentary about Danny Trejo, the ex-con turned superstar actor. This is the best of the bunch I watched over the weekend. It starts off a little disjointed, but its a fun, revealing ride all the way. Rating: 9/10

The command instructs them to establish aerial reconnaissance and take on camera enemy fortifications. Their first flight ends in an airplane accident ...

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5606664/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0 Stephen King's sequel tot he Shining gets a movie adaptation. I wasnt too keen on the original movie so this was all meh to me. This film runs almost 3 hours and is very very slow. Not scary either, and the villain was more sexy than scary. Rating 3/10

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7395114/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0 Its based on a book, but this whole movie is just a mess. Lots of big name stars, who mostly happen to be British or Aussies, yet they are playing Southern rednecks? The plot is all over the place and there's lots of time jumps. It portrays everyone in WV as rapists, perverts and murderers too. I didnt have an ounce of care for any character either. Rating 3.5/10

Well, I have never been to WV, but I do like to think there are at least a few decent people over there... I mean how could John Denver be wrong lol

They colorized Louis Lumiere's 1896 film "the snowball game". Now the 124-year-old snow battle in Lyon can be viewed not only in color, but also in the best quality.
