What the World Would Be Like If Everyone In The World Behaved Like the Catholic Saints

There would still be mentally ill people who would do bad things. Some police would be needed to keep everyone safe. The little government needed would be for taking care of infrastructure. There would be no need for the military, scant need for regulatory bodies. Government would be extremely skeletal. This proves conservatism is God’s way. There would be no leftists, because greed, the desire to control, and selfishness would be at a minimum. There would only be an honest media, reporting facts straight down the middle. There would still be elections and differences in opinions on how to best handle issues. But all debate would be friendly and the overall goals the same. There would not be selfish ambition to secure power, rather; the desire to succeed politically would be solely to help the people. There would still be competition, but all accomplishments and accolades would be to glorify God

You have met humanity haven't you? Without regulatory bodies you would have the Wild West, whorehouses and extThe old rajudicial killings. The planet would become a hell hole with smog, global warming, strip mining, strip logging and a total disregard for human safety and rules.

And no need for a military? In the old testament world this would mean wholesale slaughter because rival religions or church communities would kill each other off for what they think is the glory of their god.

And there would be no greed? Selfishness? The desire to control? Again, you have met humanity? For example this Turd:

You know, the one you obsess about and worship?

Jesus would be a leftist and the exact opposite of the man you think is a great president. In fact the world would be more leftist, not less as you claim.

There would be no divorce, no abortion, no birth control. It would be a well-managed population because people would be looking out for others first. There would be many many Catholic churches, throngs attending daily Mass, many priests and sisters, only Catholic schools. No government schools. No poverty, except that that is self-imposed. No abortions, few unwed mothers. There would be nobody living in luxury. Very little obesity. There would be far less junk food and sugary snacks. Fewer health problems because most people would be treating their bodies as temples. There would be fewer temptations, no porn industry, no gambling industry. There would still be accidents, natural disasters, disease, epidemics, depression, and congential maladies. But some suffering would be welcomed and used as a positive, and many volunteers would be on hand, helping to minimize that suffering

Again, you have heard of humanity and their psyche? There will always be divorce (because people do not like living in a religious dictatorship), there will always be abortions (to save the mother's life), there will always be birth control because people are smart enough to realize they do not need to breed like rabbits for the glory of a religion.

No government schools? Of course there will be government schools because in your fantasy hell hole of a world the church has become a defacto government. And if there is no birth control, no abortion would lead to a massive increase in poverty. A three bedroom house is not meant to have 12 people living in it, 5 kids to a bedroom is also poverty as no kid has proper nourishment/no privacy/no real chance for education. Because a family of 12 (2 parents and 10 children) will lead to institutional poverty, because parents cannot afford to send all their kids to a higher education, meaning the kids will end up in manual labor jobs and will also breed like rabbits for the glory of the Evil Vatican empire and the church.

With no greed, no competition for "the American dream" there will be less job creation, less innovation, less medical inventions and novel treatments.

And fewer health problems? Don't make me laugh, maybe fewer drugs but alcohol is from all times but will be made worse by less health care, less hospitals, less treatments for difficult diseases, etc. etc. etc.

And as expected, you want to abolish the first amendment/sacrifice people's freedom on the altar of a fake god. Not going to happen because people do not want to live in a religious dictatorship (which is what you are proposing). It would also destroy the freedom of religion, because in your little hellish universe there is only the worst of all large christian churches, the catholic one.

There would be plenty of parties and celebrations, but without drunkenness. There would be plenty of family fun, board games, dinners, puzzles, happiness, laughter. Loneliness would at be a minimum because there would always be people reaching out.

Oh, sure there would be sin, because that is man’s nature. But everybody would be working hard to curb sin in themselves. In short, all the evil we have now would be reduced to very little. All the good we have now would be greatly expanded.

We should each work to make ourselves like one of the canonized saints. Our goal should be perfect. Our goal should be to do as much to help others as we possibly can. We will fall short, but that should be our goal.

You see, that is the problem with the catholics, they live in the past, and the make a romantic fantasy about what the past was. In the "good old days" there was no "plenty of family fun with board games/puzzles/dinners/happiness/etc. etc., parents would be working 7 days in the week/6 days in the week, children had to work from very young ages, no education, little food, no electricity, etc.etc.etc.

And then there is the problem with "sin" because what you think is "sinful" is terribly religiously based. Being gay for example is not evil, living together without getting married is not a sin, etc. etc.

And we should all work to be the best versions of ourselves, try to be a bit more giving, a bit more honest, a bit more leftist, not be like saints.

Was the Catholic Church perfect when the Pope issued this Papal Bull: Ad extirpanda - Wikipedia ?

How about this one? Ad abolendam - Wikipedia

This one? Dum Diversas - Wikipedia

How about this pro-slavery one? Romanus Pontifex - Wikipedia
Another lie. Torture was never mentioned in the Papal bull.

I know you're desperately trying to dig 800 or 1000 years ago to find something. I guess that proves the purity of the RCC. But this is OP isn't even about that. It's about how the world would be if it were populated by saints.

The saints are generally horrible role models. Many led lives of horrible deeds for many years only to convert at the end of their lives.

No, those things wouldn't be factors if everyone behaved like the saints in Heaven. You're not even reading the OP

Imagine if everyone lived like St Olga

St. Olga
When a neighboring tribe assassinated her husband, Olga (c.879-969), princess of Kiev, went to war. She massacred virtually the entire tribe; the few who did survive she sold into slavery.

This should be comforting to the atheists. No matter what you've done, you can atone for it with great acts of love later in life. Same is true of St. Paul. What matters is how you end up. Not many went this route however.

Never be like these people. They did such horrible things

St. Vladimir
Olga’s grandson Vladimir (956-1015) became prince of Kiev by murdering his older brother. Then he raped his sister-in-law and added her to his harem of several hundred women. To consecrate a new temple to all the gods, he sacrificed a father and his son.

Even atheists can convert, do great things and ultimate reach heaven. Isn't that comforting?

What the World Would Be Like If Everyone In The World Behaved Like the Catholic Saints.

It would be a fabulous world.

Everyone would be looking out for everyone. There would be very little government. Every social service need would be taken care of by volunteers. Health care would be one giant co-op. And those who couldn’t pull their share would be taken care of voluntarily by others. There would be little need for law enforcement. I say ‘little' because humans are still fallible and make mistakes. People would still make errors such as inadvertent traffic violations. There would still be mentally ill people who would do bad things. Some police would be needed to keep everyone safe. The little government needed would be for taking care of infrastructure. There would be no need for the military, scant need for regulatory bodies. Government would be extremely skeletal. This proves conservatism is God’s way. OMG, how boring would this be? We need a little spice in life.

How would a life where everybody cares about each other be boring?

St. Thomas Becket
As chancellor of England under Henry II, Thomas Becket (1118-1170) became obscenely wealthy. His wardrobe was larger and more expensive than the king’s. He even had his own private navy. In spite of all his wealth, Becket was cold-hearted and never gave anything to the poor.

Why should it be comforting? Simply being an atheist hurts nobody.

Bingo every week. Huzzah.

All of my links have academic citations and you link to... a blog with no cited sources. Is this really what you consider intellectual honesty?

How would a life where everybody cares about each other be boring?

People do care for each other, they're just in the progress of realizing it. You can't have instant paradise without going thru some effort or we wouldn't appreciate it.

Saints are political tools for popes and other catholics to increase their own self importance (or create a revenue stream). All that miracles nonsense is just that, absolute and utter nonsense.

I notice you didn’t list a “What would the world be like if everyone behaved like atheists? I think we have a glimpse of that with North Korea. But it would be much much worse.
As for the non Christian sects, it would it would be better than with atheists but there would be much greater sin since sects like Buddhism are done with acts the RCC considers sinful like abortion and birth control. Also, any world that doesn’t believe in Jesus is doomed

I don’t know if that’s true, but there are canonized saints who were sinners but repented and became saints. They had a long road to hoe to make the comeback. But it can be done

Because atheist are ignored by the religious masses of the world. In a world where atheists are in power freedom of religion would be just as free as the right to not be religious. People will be allowed to do what the religious see as sins (pre-marital sex, cohabitation without marriage, children born out of wedlock, LGBTQ life styles, abortion, divorce, freedom from theocratic tendencies, voluntary prostitution) and things that would be criminalized what needed to be (actual crimes).

You know, freedom in a real way, not in a fake way.
