These graphs show that covid cases have been increasing, but deaths have not. So why is there hysteria again? Case counts don't mean much, since cases are often mild or symptomless. The only counts that matter are serious cases and deaths. And you don't see that on these graphs.

Yep, one f the many the CDC doesn't report on is my liberal stepson who got the vaccine and within two months got the Delta variant.

BUT......in totalitarian regimes like the Biden Crime Family, the sheep don't hear about that sort of thing.

Has absolutely nothing to do with politics. The media, CDC and everyone else has reported how effective the vaccine is against Covid-19. The problem is new variants mean new effectiveness, usually lower. It is not the fault of the media/CDC that people dont follow the ever changing situation around Covid-19.

The vaccine we have now is 95% effective against Covid-19 in its first variant and the "Kent" variant, who were the two dominant variants that killed 500+K Americans. Then Delta (Indian) came along and that only has an 81% protection. So you basically have gone from a 5% chance of getting Covid-19 to 1-5 chance. And it is actually more, because Delta is categorized as one of the most contagious pulmonary disease ever, with viral loads in the nose that is 1000 times greater than the "Kent" variant.

But the protection against severe Covid-19 is maintained in the Delta variant. So if you do get Delta, and you are fully vaccinated (2 jabs plus 14 days after last jab), then the chances of you getting such a severe reaction to Covid-19 that it requires hospitalization is 4% on average. That of course still means if you have a pre-condition that has weakened you immune system, then the risk is more than 4%, but it is still way lower than if you did not have the vaccine.

It's pure Karma. Under Trump the left and the lefty media hyped up all they could about Covid and now it has returned full circle to bite Biden in the ass. Biden has cornered himself, not being able to say, "It's all a media hoax". Now all he can say is that even the vaccinated are going to have to start wearing masks again to fight the spread of Covid even as you basically pointed out that the current situation is a media hoax. Turnabout is fair play.

I've come to the conclusion that very few people understand how vaccines work. And I don't know that you do, either, Pete. People are getting infected by Delta because NO VACCINE PREVENTS INFECTION FROM COVID OR VARIANTS. People are getting sick despite vaccinations because a vaccine cannot stop you from inhaling Covid. All a vaccine does is instruct your immune system that this THING is a threat. The vaccine mimics the actual virus while minimizing the impact on your body so as to put your antibodies on full alert. That way, your immune system will immediately recognize the real thing when it infiltrates your body and mount a defense before your body is overwhelmed. That's the premise. The reason WHY people are still getting sick is because Covid is a nasty replicator, and the body has a hard time keeping up, which is why so many people complain of fatigue while fighting it off. And the reason why it keeps spreading person to person is because even vaccinated people can spread it. The adage," if you can get it, you can spread it," applies. The Delta variant is simply a faster replicator, born of our attempt to limit hosts by masks, etc. Now, what will happen if we don't take steps to eradicate Covid completely and externally, is that it will mutate again. And it's doubtful that it will mutate for the better. That is why we need masks, utra-violet in ventilation systems, social distancing, etc. along with vaccines, which is why the CDC is back on the mask track. Thanks!!

I understand fully how vaccines work. People are getting infected by Delta because they are relaxing their guard (no mask, no washing hands), and the fact that Delta has an easier time evading the vaccine. No vaccine prevents infections fully. The current vaccines reduces the chance of getting Covid by 95%ish if the varriants are Alpha or "Kent", but only 81% if it is Delta. It also depends solely on how much exposure you have and other factors.

So yes, we have to keep washing hands, having mask on in crowded spaces and all that. It will not only help with the spread of covid, but all sort of airborne diseases.. the flu to tuberculosis.

But it aint the fault of the CDC or even (most) media, that people dont understand this and resist vaccines and/or masks. It is down to individuals and especially those terrorists who spread disinformation through social media and friendly media.

It still amazes me that people are against masks, and so few can answer why doctors wear them when they operate on people..

It is true that more cases will result in more deaths, but nobody is saying that all cases result in death, only that an increase in case will mean an increase in deaths. Hopefully with improved treatments there will be fewer deaths than in the past. We don't know if Delta is more deadly than the original COVID strain or not. As long as there is such a large reservoir of unvaccinated people, there is the potential for a variant to arise that is both resistant to the vaccine and more deadly. That is what we are concerned about and why we are so frustrated with Trumpers and anti-vaccers who are so determined to kill people with their lethal stupidity.

At this point those are all assumptions. We don't know if unvaccinated people cause more variants, and we don't know if the variants are more dangerous. This is all part of the campaign to get everyone vaccinated, and not just once but as many times as the authorities decide.
