There are many different conflicting estimates and no truly representative samples. It's also complicated by how you define sexual orientation.

Do you define it by sexual behavior, as in only people who engage in sexual behavior with those of the same sex are gay? Do you define it by sexual attraction, as in those who are attracted to the same sex whether or not they define it as such?

Furthermore, what implications are there to the size of the gay population? What does it means if the gay population is small or large?

Most studies I have seen have it at about 3-5% I think.

Why would you post a thread that you perceive is pointless? :roll:

Since you can't seem to read very well, the purpose of this thread is to promote discussion on the amount of the population that is gay. Some recent studies have indicated that 1 in 6 Americans do not have an estimate, and of those that do, the majority put the total at a high 20%. I'm curious as to see this board's results. Now if you could go post in some non pointless threads and leave this one alone, then I would appreciate it.

Now I am assuming fully gay and not bisexual. I have no idea about those numbers.
