Option A.Back in September of 2021, I made a post about vaccine mandates, and it is still getting a lot of traffic. Looks like what I wrote struck a nerve on both sides of the debate. Now we're into year 3 of the pandemic and the topic of vaccine mandates has become a big issue. I want to know your viewpoint on this topic.
Before you answer, keep in mind, that there's already vaccine requirements for 8-10 different types of vaccines in this country. If you want to attend a school or work in the health-care industry or a governmental job, you need to get vaccinated for at least 8 different vaccines. Polio, Small Pox, Influenza, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Pertussis, Pneumococcal disease, and Chicken Pox. When I did a summer job for an adult daycare center, I had to get the TB shot. The Polio and Small Pox shots were mandatory at the state level. If you didn't get those shots, you got fined.
The Biden Administration currently imposes a vaccine mandate for federal workers and federal contractors.
Here are your options:
OPTION A - The federal government needs to impose MORE vaccine mandates. This means, we should consider things such as adding a federal tax for people who refuse to get vaccinated, or require more kinds of businesses to get vaccinated.
OPTION B - There is nothing more the federal government can do here, when it comes to vaccine mandates. Keep the Biden vaccine mandate rules. The federal government needs to instead encourage people to get vaccinated, boosted, or take the pill.
OPTION C - Remove the Biden federal mandate. It is only causing problems and making people resent getting vaccinated. The federal government needs to instead encourage people to get vaccinated, boosted, or take the pill.
OPTION D - The federal government needs to stay out of the vaccine business period. They are simply not working. We should focus our energy on treatment for covid victims rather than forcing people to get a placebo pill/shot.
I feel the same way. If these idiots can't see what's happening and learn from it then it's time to make their decisions for them.Option A.
I'm actually opposed to mandates. One year ago I would have had the opposite opinion. One year ago I thought most folks would have enough sense to.get their shots and we wouldn't need mandates. I grossly overestimated the intelligence of the average conservative. They are prolonging this deadly disease, raising the body count, and restricting everyone else's freedoms.
Mandate away, Joe!
Well said, however I'm all in on mandates, isolate the politicized morons from the rest of society.I'm actually opposed to mandates. One year ago I would have had the opposite opinion. I agree. It's not a placebo. However, there are people who think the covid19 shots/pills are just a sugar pill. Gives people the impression of helping, but is really not. Basically the option was designed for the conspiracy/Alex Jones types.I don't understand the language of option D: what do you mean by "placebo pill/shot"? The vaccine is not a placebo.
Agreed. Just look at the debate surrounding anti-body treatment for covid19 patients in hospitals. The Biden Administration divided out these anti-bodies evenly among the states. They are in limited supply. The states that don't apply vaccine and mask mandates are seeing their hospitals, their resources being filled up to the gills. Florida and Texas are already demanding more anti-body treatments, larger than their share. Their poor management is causing problems for the rest of us.I feel the same way. Public Health issues require 'A' This is necessary, like most laws, to force right behavior that many won't do.Back in September of 2021, I made a post about vaccine mandates, and it is still getting a lot of traffic. I don't like mandates either, but it is an unfortunately reality of our society. Because diseases impact everybody in our society, it is not really an issue of "freedom". It is necessity to keep the republic intact. Nobody wants to get a shot in the arm and have two days of feeling lousy. But it is a necessary for a functioning society.Option A.

Mandate away, Joe!
Please name names. Who said that?Lets consider the facts. The people advocating for mandates were the same people that blindly believed that the vaccines would prevent people from getting COVID.
Same here.Option C. I'm hopeful SCOTUS's decision will be a big step toward option C but we'll see.
I have mixed feelings about it so I guess I'm "other". I believe vaccine mandates are appropriate in certain situations but I also believe the mandate should be imposed by the appropriate level of government. I think each level of government has jurisdiction over certain institutions and the level above should not usurp that jurisdiction either by forcing a mandate or disallowing a mandate.
I think that the Federal government should mandate things under their control like the military, federal employees, air travel, borders etc. States should have control over State employees and other institutions under their jurisdiction and municipalities should have control over their employees and schools. Private businesses should have the right to impose mandates in their workplace without government interference, for or against.
Yes, that is what I meant when I said " I believe vaccine mandates are appropriate in certain situations but I also believe the mandate should be imposed by the appropriate level of government"You are for vaccine mandates though as so long as they are enforced by the right level of government. Or do I have this wrong?
Start with your clown prince...Please name names. Who said that?
Yes, that is what I meant when I said " I believe vaccine mandates are appropriate in certain situations but I also believe the mandate should be imposed by the appropriate level of government"
However, equally important is that I believe that another level has no right to interfere with that decision. For example, I do not believe a Governor has the right to dictate what a school board might decide, not the right to interfere with a business that imposes mandates.
BTW I feel the same about masks. Leave the decision with the appropriate level of government or with private business.
Option C. I'm hopeful SCOTUS's decision will be a big step toward option C but we'll see.
