I'm curious as to what people in different countries have paid in income taxes in 2020. If you've done your taxes and know the overall tax rate as a percentage post it if you want, and include the country/region you live in and we can see what everyone is getting dinged for.

I'm in eastern Canada and my 2020 rate was 29.5%.

The rate is kind of decieving when comparing country vs country. For instance, here in the States my effective rate is a tad over 13%. We have no state income tax. Other countries may have a greater need to receive more revenue via income tax. Kind of need to know what the country determined the FY tax base needs were.

Effective!!!!

Always talk about Effective!!!!

Yeah, and it also varies wildly in the US by state, and by income.

If I add SS, Medicare, state and local to my federal income tax bill, it’s about 30%, more if I count the money my employer pays that I don’t see.
