Tell us what is, according to you, the most beautiful (and ugliest!) word in your language.

In English, "feedlededee" sounds funny. "throughout" is impossible to pronounce!

In French, I like "hibou", "y", "alouette", "esperluette", "opinelle", "firmament", "crépuscule", "effervescence", "babelutte"...and the ugliests are "nonobstant" and "désidérata"

In dutch the ugliest must be "Hottentottententententoonstelling"

I could never choose a favorite word; it wouldn't be fair to all the others. ;)

I enjoy the word 'SMITE'. I try to use it every day and even taped it to one of the rarely used keys on my keyboard. Every once in a while, I'll press it, but nothing happens. :(

Now, that's an interesting verb, with biblical connotations.
The interesting thing about it is that nobody can seem to agree on whether the past tense is "smote" or "smitten".

Looked it up...seems like either could be used. Probably depends on the situation and context. For example, I don't think I've ever been 'smote', but I have been 'smitten'. ;)

I smite, I smote, I have smitten. Just like "to write."

Best word? There are many, but I'm going to go with zenzizenzizenzic. It means something raised to the 8th power. It's just too much fun to say.

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious

Even though the sound of it
Is something quite atrocious

If you say it loud enough
You'll always sound precocious

If you really want to sound precocious, go with "floccinaucinihilipilification." It means "The action of describing a thing as utterly worthless and trivial."

So if you just said, "Wow, what a stupid word; I don't need to know that at all," you have just performed floccinaucinihilipilification. Congratulations! You are now a floccinaucinihilipilificator!

Melifluous.

Just because it sounds pretty.
