I qualified with an M4. The AR15 is literally an M4 without burst fire. All the other features designed to kill large numbers of people, such as the buffer tube, the pistol grip, the muzzle brake, the armor piercing 5.56 NATO round, are still there.

without BURST FIRE its not an ASSAULT RIFLE. DUH. I own dozens of AR-15 style rifles. I can build them from a pile of parts. Buffer tube is designed to kill lots of people-pistol grip? AR 15s come with FLASH HIDERS NOT MUZZLE BRAKES. geez you are lying again

only someone CLUELESS about ballistics would claim that an AP round is designed to kill its of people. Its far less lethal than a hollow point or a JSP

Give it up, there's nothing racist with her comment. playing the race card is lame. you trying to use it when there isn't even a hint of racism is pathetic

The lack of minorities referenced, is racist.

The NRA is known for it's outrageous claims and misguidance, but there are some lies so bad they stand above the rest. Which one do you think is the worst of the worst?

For me, it's the NRA's claim that the best thing to do after a mass tragedy such as Sandy Hook or Orlando is to sit on our butts and do nothing but pray. No, we can stop the problem of gun violence in this country with sensible legislation, but the NRA is so afraid of losing profit from declining gun sales that they'd rather see 30 kindergarteners killed verses a law passed.

Have you stopped beating your wife yet?

For me it's that with a $1000 lifetime membership they'll stop asking you for money.

I feel like you were most likely put in the kitchen if you actually were in the army.

He claims to have been an engineer. For some reason that claim strikes me as sketchy.

Yea...getting out of this thread. Another disaster. Not getting infractions over a worthless thread.

Semi-automatic-only rifles like variants of the Colt AR-15 are not assault rifles; they do not have select-fire capabilities.

What legislation do you believe would have stopped the Orlando shooting?

An assault weapons ban, which would have prevented Omar Mateen from buying his AR15

A ban on firearms with detachable magazines, or with an internal capacity of over five rounds, which would have prevented Mateen from firing more than five shots without undergoing a slow reloading process

A licensing process to legally own any firearm, which would have prevented Matteen from immediately buying his gun, then shooting people the very next day

A ban on 5.56 NATO ammunition, which is designed to pierce body armor, and has no use in civilian hands

A limit on the number of rounds purchasable a year

A complete ban of firearms ownership would do the trick as well

There greatest lie was in the beginning... they said that Socialism is good and the way of the future. Then along came Stalin, Mao, Lenin, Che and Ho Chi Minh... the NRA changed their tune but i will never forget their lies.

So many lies. The National Guard has been around since 1636.

More guns equals more gun violence. John Lott has been debunked numerous times.

I am an Army veteran. I know what an assault rifle is,
and what it is designed for. Stop trying to twist the definition to your advantage.

Not if you call the AR-15 an assault rifle.

Mateen DID NOT use an AR-15.

A ban on firearms with with detachable magazines, or with an internal capacity of over five rounds is an effective ban on practically every semi-auto sporting rifle. And semi-auto pistol.

A licensing process? All Mateens weapons were LEGALLY purchased. And not the day before so this is both irrelevant and WRONG.

The NATO ammo was irrelevant since no one wore body armor.

The number of rounds being purchased? To what?

A complete ban is unconstitutional.

Wait? What? You mean I dont win?

OK then... reverse the order. I win...

do you understand that the term "assault" when applied to a rifle is a military term and not the criminal concept that the Bannerrhoid movement wants to use when applied to a scary looking firearm?

Do you understand that simply holding that gun around people constitues an assault and is a fineable offense that can include jail time?

do you understand that such an offense has no relevance to the type of firearm you have?

The overreaching statements and lies are one issue, but to me they are just a minor issue. The major issue is the negative influence it has had on simple things like working heavily against the CDC (to ridiculous levels) of studying gun violence. Introducing rules and regulations that hobble the ATF like banning them from using technique more advanced than paper and microfiche, not allowing things to be computerized. Hobbling the number of agents of the ATF to ridiculously low numbers, even their gun crime division is ridiculously under funded.

It is not the fact that the NRA embellishes and tells outright lies, it is the fact that they have crippled study into gun violence and the ability to find and fight the bad guy with the gun so that they do not reflect poorly on the good guys with the guns.

The second amendment is written in stone, and that is a good thing, it is the way people in the US want it to remain and being so unequivocal (the 2nd amendment that is) makes it safe from government overreach (which again is a good thing) but banning the ATF from using computers and the CDC from even studying gun violence is an overreach too.
