So does this administration so what is your point? Let me answer that, you don't have one. Barriers are part of the whole package to secure the border. Full Stop.
My point is that illegal drugs aren't being carried by (OMG!) migrants from Central America on the back of their kids. Illegal drugs are a problem in the U.S. in the first place due to over-prescribing of prescription opioids. This is the root cause, doctors that are prescribing prescription narcotics like the doctor in Florida that's in prison now because he ran a 'pain clinic' and prescribed copious amounts of opioids to 'patients' who were no more than drug addicts. Florida has the highest rate in the country for doctors who are contributing to the opioid crisis by overly prescribing addictive opioids for pain management.
Check out Dr. Barry Schultz who prescribed 20,000 pills to one patient alone. He had a long line of patients waiting at his 'pain clinic' door every morning. A law enforcement task force began investigating Schultz based on a complaint from a Lake Worth pharmacy that a patient tried to fill a 30-day supply of oxycodone totaling
1,590 pills, with a dosage strength of 30 milligrams.

The opioid crisis is not 'this' and it's not 'that'. It's an extremely complex problem and putting a useless wall up isn't going to make one shred of difference in the influx of illegal drugs pouring into the country.
What has Trump REALLY done to address the opioid crisis except to demand a wall? Did he set up a special commission to attack this drug epidemic and start from right here, inside the U.S. and work up from there. A drug addict isn't born a drug addict, so why are they and why aren't we looking into the 'whys' and 'hows' and find out why these people are becoming addicts. Find out why there's no education and counseling available to them. Figure out where the culprit physicians and drug manufacturers are and make them accountable. I have another news flash, the doctors work WITH the pharmaceutical companies. There's a long history that's been well documented where pharmaceutical companies pay off doctors to push their drugs. Just today, the owners of Purdue Pharmaceuticals was found to have profited more than $4 billion dollars in the past 10 years on sales of Oxycontin.
Now I realize that
you people want an instant fix to the drug problem and you like to have complex situations translated to you with a few bullet-points in bold font. But this drug epidemic is NOT because of any caravan. Those are simply people seeking a better life. The drugs come right though our LEGAL, GUARDED borders in great big trucks. Or, they come in 600 yard tunnels under the ground. More than 286 of these tunnels have been found traversing the border between Mexico and the U.S. Or, they come from the air, from China where most of the Fentanyl comes then gets distributed via the U.S. Parcel Service. Or, it comes from airplanes or high speed boats since the cartels can afford to buy just about any mode of transportation they choose to use.
The drug epidemic is an extremely complicated problem and focusing all our attention, time and money on a stupid concrete wall is just delaying fixing the problem all that much more. So take a deep breath, sit back, have a coke or a beer and chill out about the caravans. They are not coming to kidnap your children, rape your wife or kill you in your sleep. They are seeking amnesty because they're dying where they come from because it's dangerous. They arrive and present themselves AT THE LEGAL BORDER CROSSING to be processed appropriately.
I get it that
you people like being scared straight by Trump and you like to chant 'build that wall' in sync with others. But geeze people, take a step back and look at the whole picture here instead of peering through just one little window.
