The majority of americans do not want Roe v Wade overturned and yet the gop is foaming at the mouth trying to get as many draconian abortion laws as possible passed, against the will of the people. Imagine what they will do if they get control of government again?

Yes. If the GOP gains control of the government again, it'll be a liberal's worst nightmare.

Sweet dreams in November.

They are after their wacko base, that's all

We are trying to get liberals to stop moving here.

This should be great news for demorats. Of course, you must doubt that this is actually “against the will of the people” or you would not think it would be possible for republicants to “get control of government again”.

How, exactly, do you see it as possible for the republicants to gain (or even keep) power (aka control of the government) if they are passing laws which are against the will of the people?

Because of Gerrymandering and the present inflation. Gerrymandering means even if they do not get a majority of votes, they still get the greater number of seats in both the Federal House and in state legislators. And then they can blame the Dems for the inflation, which the Dems have no control over and the GOP has no plan to solve, but people will still vote for the other party as they did when Carter was president. The present GOP is more willing to do or say anything to gain power, too bad they have no ability to govern.

I'm sure those who oppose will vote them out of office if they disagree with their policy.

Like voters will do to Democrats come November.

What's going to make it horrible is all the things the gop is currently bitching about, which is basically everything, they'll do nothing about. I want to see the gop's fix for our 'open' borders for openers.

I'm sure 48% of voters will agree with you.

Gerrymandering. Many creative forms of voter suppression. An electoral system that gives rural conservatives disproportionate voting power compared to city dwellers. Elections being funded/corrupted by corporate money. Sheer dumb luck and dirty politics allowing a single-term loser to pick 3 new supreme court justices. There's lots more I could add to the list, but you've been around long enough to see the countless threads on all of them.

There are many factors, some by design and some by corruption, which prop up and amplify minority power.

Its called majority rule. Our forefathers ****ed up and gave too much power to low population areas. As a result we often have deplorable rule.

Do you have a link showing Roe v. Wade was overturned?
Do you have a link showing a women can't get an abortion in any of the 50 states?

My recommendation is vote with your feet. Move to California or New York. I'm sure your mistress/girlfriend/wife can get an abortion within days of her due date in the blue states.

Like it's Republicans worst nightmare after Democrats whipped the shit out of Trump and took the House and Senate?

Besides, you must be joking. Without a sufficient majority in the Senate, it still takes compromise. But Republicans have no serious, important policy agenda other than piss off libs, and tax cuts for the rich....so it will just be a big clown show of stupidity if they get control.
Especially if it's another Dumpster fire Trump presidency.

Most people agree with the law just passed in Florida not allowing teachers to discuss sex or gender to K-3 graders. You're kidding yourself if you think most people agree with the radical democratic party...

shrug...all they have to do is resume everything Trump had going.

Don't have to move. Anyone with the money can drive out of state and get an abortion. The law only affects women too poor to travel. Another instance of the republican war on the poor.

Are the people in the states with "draconian abortion laws" unhappy with the bills their representatives are presenting in the state government? If so, they have the ability to vote them out.

The biggest problem with abortion (legally) is that is not legislated at the Federal level. If people truly wanted states to not be able to pass their own abortion laws, the Federal government should explicitly pass laws regarding abortion. If the majority of Americans truly do not want Roe v Wade overturned, they need to elect politicians at the state level that agree with them and elect politicians at the national level that are willing to legislate that. If that is not happening, there is not as much support as one might think...

The reason this has been handed to the courts is due to the unwillingness to write legislation and then fight to get it passed. Pro-life politicians are actually doing that work at the state level and seeing success. Pro-choice politicians appear willing to simply call for more power (elect more of us) to make court appointments on this issue rather than legislate on this issue. Rather than state governments like California refusing to let state workers travel to certain states or having the MLB move games, they should pass laws if they believe they have the support of their constituents. In the absence of that, pro-lifers are filling the gap.

Of course you can't answer the questions. Which state is it that you can't get an abortion?
Republican war on the poor- -LOL How are those gas and food prices going for the poor? Let's bring in a few more million unskilled works to compete with the poor Americans. Don't forget the poor just like everyone else get a discount on that electric car. Let's also keep the poor out of school longer and keep them in failing public schools.

Hmm… so you dropped the OP’s premise of abortion, toss in some gerrymandering voodoo and inflation (just for good measure?) and come up with a way for republicants to gain majority power without popular support. BTW, Carter lost popular support losing in 44 states (in 1980) all on his own. ;)

OK, but US Senate and POTUS elections are not impacted by gerrymandering. Hot tip - do not run Hillary again.

OK, so you see it as requiring constitutional amendment to fix.
