simple question what is a gentleman? attributes etc

Boys (A gentleman) have winkies and girls (A Lady) have a wHo-wHo......

I'm a gentleman. Everytime. All the time. Ask anyone. I have never uttered a discouraging word towards anyone.

I'd like to thank the Academy...

"...And the skyyyyy is not cloudy all daaaaay." :violin:

Gentlemen and chilvalry are synonymous in my book

The text book definition would be;

# courtesy towards women
# the medieval principles governing knighthood and knightly conduct

My own would be along the lines with the first sentence. A man who knows how to treat a lady well. A man who would never strike a woman (unless defending his life of course) A man who doesn't just see women good for one thing and so on. THe answers could be endless....

A gentleman, has the ability to take others into consideration when acting in everyday life. He would make descisions based on his own interests, but carefully evaluate the impact on others before acting on them. He would be mindful of female persons in particular, and revert to so called "Chivalrous" attitudes when dealing with feminine sensibilities, which implies a certain understanding of the female mind....though obviously limited and steroetyped.
A gentleman is the personification of a perfect masculine image, as seen from a female perspective concerning an Ideal interaction of respect.

THere ya go. Said it better than I 'tried' to.

Chivalry is difficult in todays world. While many of its concepts are noble, it also has a ring of stereotyping and sexism. I find respect, asking politely instead of assuming and gender-neutral observations to be more useful today than ancient traditions.

.... :kissy:

Ah. But what is "chivalry"?

Most of the men in my life are physically stronger than me. I have no problem admitting that and I'm proud of their strength. More than likely I may never have to depend on their brute strength to protect me from the brute strength of others. But if things were to change and I needed them in that way there they would be in all their masculine glory! My husband and my brothers would defend me with all their might without question so I need not worry about being a member of the physically weaker sex 'cause a bunch of chivalrous men have my back, they value me highly, and they respect me to boot.

There's something incredibly beautiful about being kind, compassionate, respectful, and powerfully toned with a great physical strength. I love all the gents in my life! Men are fabulous creatures.

A man with some degree of manners, courtesy, and politeness.

"Is it. . . is it, being prepared to do the right thing? Whatever the price? Isn't that what makes a man?"

"Sure. That and a pair of testicles."

I think I gentlemen is someone that understands women to be the weaker of the two subject to emotional nurturing, and understands that women should not be in the work place, but to be at home bearing children and cooking.

Are you are troll, sarcastic, or a misogynist?

What is a gentleman??

A guy who buys dinner, with no intention of having sex in return. At least not that night....

A gentleman is respectful, kind, courteous, considerate, STD-free, and well endowed

Ahhh, you got there before me!:rofl

Sorry my wife was yelling at me to get offline last night. I love women and try to be gentlemen all of the time.

Is Chivalry Dead ?

No.

That which meritted it has gone extinct.

What is a gentleman?

A guy who will take out his 1984 special edition Star Wars light saber with adjustable glow out of the box just so you can hold it.

As an addendum to my earlier statement, I posit that a gentleman can be:

Swift as the coursing raid, with all the force of a great typhoon, with all the strength of a raging fire, mysterious as the dark side of the moon.

There's that courteous word, again. Guess that means that, again, the above statement applies to me. ;)
