It amuses me to read the terminology describing Republicans and or Conservatives. Here are some of my favorites: ‘The radical right’, ‘Neocon warmongers’, ‘Fanatical Religious Right’, ‘Far right extremists’, ‘Neonazis’, etc,…etc.

There are 3 basic tenets of the Conservative/Republican Party that I believe have helped shape America into being the most generous and prosperous nation in history. They are:

#1 Deep religious convictions of honoring God, as seen by and adhered to by approximately 98% of our American forefathers.

#2 Realizing that the onset of our Industrial Revolution had sparked a Capitalistic surge producing the strongest most prosperous economy and nation on earth.

#3 Adhering to the Republican/Conservative conviction that a strong military, a strong offense and defense is necessary to live up to the old adage that one can only enjoy or receive peace through strength, while we maintain that military superiority edge over the enemy forces of doom and gloom.

So when I hear my fair weather cut and run enthusiasts on the other side call we true Americans names containing words like extremist, radical, Nazi, and out of the mainstream--I have to ponder their logic, or perhaps even their sanity.

Now I’ll compare Liberal ideology/Convictions to my three basic Conservative tenets to Americanism:

#1 Liberals simply do not honor God as seen by the Democratic platform condoning abortion rights on demand, and condoning gay marriage etc.

#2 Liberals use any and all means to regulate and tax businesses and corporations. Rather than help fuel our economic engine/economy, liberals tend to break down progress by favoring Sherman Act and OSHA type standards on our industries. Liberals lean toward Socialism (Capitalism’s opposite)--which tends to dumb down and weaken economic resolve. Left to Liberalism/Socialism--we would have a rearranged culture where unions trump corporations, where we become a classless society of cloned equals, and where social workers would be honored for their work in recruiting masses of people to help fill the burgeoning new one-class role of cradle to grave welfare leech benefit recipients.

#3 I cannot name a Democrat or Liberal political operative (besides the black sheep Leiberman, and Zell Miller) that has a clue as what it means to have a strong military, and what it means to use that military during war time. Kery and Murtha et al call our troops murdering terrorists, while others in Congress look to undermine each and every military mission, so long as there is a Republican administration at the helm. These people are not only Un-American--they’re

yeah, like our dear friend Jefferson, who said

I do not believe it is for the interest of religion to invite the civil magistrate to direct its exercises, its discipline, or its doctrines; nor of the religious societies that the general government should be invested with the power of effecting any uniformity of time or matter among them. Fasting and prayer are religious exercises. The enjoining them, an act of discipline. Every religious society has a right to determine for itself the times for these exercises and the objects proper for them according to their own particular tenets; and this right can never be safer than in their own hands where the Constitution has deposited it... Every one must act according to the dictates of his own reason, and mine tells me that civil powers alone have been given to the President of the United States, and no authority to direct the religious exercises of his constituents

So much for that eh..

#2 Realizing that the onset of our Industrial Revolution had sparked a Capitalistic surge producing the strongest most prosperous economy and nation on earth.

Not going to dispute this one, no need.

#1 Liberals simply do not honor God as seen by the Democratic platform condoning abortion rights on demand, and condoning gay marriage etc.

Jefferson disagrees with you.

#2 Liberals use any and all means to regulate and tax businesses and corporations. Rather than help fuel our economic engine/economy, liberals tend to break down progress by favoring Sherman Act and OSHA type standards on our industries. Taxes are part of life, in the end its the price we pay for a civilized society. Where and how we spend our taxes is the problem. For every democrat that might spend it on a ballooned welfare program 3 Republicans are willing to spend it on a pork corp project.

See? if you want to get partisan about it, its silly because nobody wins.

We'd have a strong military if we didn't have a base in every other country we could put one in.

Whatever happend to a military only for self defense?

ahhhh.....one problem PTSD. Christ would distance himself so far from these groups that sacreligiously take up his name and refer to themselve as the "Christian right".

Jesus said prayer should be a private affair devoid of public display: "And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by men. Truly, I say to you they have received their reward. But when you pray, go into your room (or closet.) and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret..." (Matthew 6:5-6 RSV).

These groups are nothing but pharisee/hypocrites who claim to follow the teachings of Christ but who live their lives in almost complete and utter opposite to the teachings of the man.

I love hearing people assert that Christ would be on their side, against the pacifists.

I never said the Christ would be on my side....what I said was that Christ would find very little in common with these groups that proport to be his followers but do so in name only. The reason I say this is because I am very familiar with the New Testatment and the teachings of Christ which are almost polar opposite to what these groups preach. Whether Christ would be a Democrat, Republican...etc.etc......I would not begin to try to hypothesize.

Are you sure they call themselves that? I thought it was their opponents who call them that. Many of them aren't even on the right. Why would a liberal democrat call himself part of the Christian right?

***Glad to see you on board Awesome. Its simply amazing that you've wrapped up the entire truth about liberals in one paragraph, and the mod team didn't even move it. The problem here is that liberals know you're right, yet they still find hope in spinning the obvious truth. Oh, well, at least this gets to be fun at times as we work against the politically handicapped.

...about keeping it in he family, if you know what I mean.

PMSKid,

I regret to inform you that you no longer have a grasp on reality. Sad to say but the political base, "conservatives", that you love so much differ greatly with those of your own views. I truely believe that you don't even know the intent of the "conservative" base when it was created. Let me give a bried explanation to you why this is (I'm getting kinda tired of having to explain this you, NavyPride, and Aquapub, but one more time won't hurt I suppose).

You see, the problem with most conservatives nowadays is that they don't really know what their party USED to be. Conservatives are supposed to resist change and want small govt, balanced budget, etc. Nowadays, conservative equate their party with whatever the religeous wind feels like. Talk about unpredictable. You can never tell what their new beef is going to be.

Perfect example. Marriage was never defined as a man and woman, "conservatives" did not like the idea of gays getting married because their religeous views did not agree with them, so what do they want to do? CHANGE the constitution. So much for resisting change. I.E. no longer conservative.

Conservatives used to demand a balanced budget. Their religeous boy Bush wins office and it becomes a he-can-do-no-wrong type situation. Record deficits? No problem, oh but we are banning stem-cell research right? Good. I.E. No longer convervative.

Conservatives used to believe in the law and all that it states. When two people get married the husband is now makes all decisions for the wife when she is incapacitated, and vice versa. Terri Schivo comes around and the religeous zeel of people wanting to preserve her life at all costs causes "conservatives" to want to fight to save her. Regardless of what the LAW states and what numerous court cases found (each and every case found in favor of the husband). They want to CHANGE the way the law states and actually created a pseudo law for schivo. I.E. No longer conservative.

Conservatives USED to believe that the constitution and the original views of the founding fathers of this country were the end all way the country should go. The founding fathers believed in the power of the people, and free speech, and the right to bare arms to allow the populous to defend themselves from invading bodies. The ORIGINAL intent was so that they can allow the minutement to continue to arm themselves to defend against the redcoats. The NRA comes around and the "conservatives" relize that shooting guns gives them a rush so what happends? Yes thats right. They try to convince people that the founding fathers wanted people to carry ak-47's around and that the gov't should allow them to have any type of lethal firearm that they want.... for hunting purposes of course . I.E. No longer conservative.

The truth is that the conservative party no longer exists. Its sad, because I consider myself a conservative, I want a balanced budget, I want the original intent of the constitution to be preserved, I disagree with people bending intent, I disagree with judges trying to force their views on others, I disagree with the gov't interfering with the personal issues of its populace, I disagree with our gov't officials being persuaded by whoever gives them the most campaign money and kickbacks. But would I call myself a conservative in this day and age? Hell no. And be lumped in with the likes of NavyPride and Aquapub (the loudest two "conservatives" on this website, PMSKid doesn't count, he's just crazy!)? You have to be kidding me? I'd rather be called a liberal (as rediculous as that claim may be).

Thanks!, "politically challenged is right". you have to poke fun everynow and then to make it fun. just like most of them try to lump us as neo-con freaks. I think percentage-wise, they have the most freaks. Not sure about the libertarians though?

Find me one post from a liberal on this Board that starts off a statement with, "All you neo-cons..." or "You neo's" or ...

Just one!

There probably isn't one, and that's good that most liberals don't label all of us conservatives. We tend to do that more talking about liberals, because it's so very hard to determine what most liberals stand for?

Wow the fact that you two are even having this argument is embarrassing. This is pure political trash and you two are just passing it bath and forth.

Not really. He infered liberals speak in generalisms when refering to neocon's. I merely asked him to post one comment from a liberal that used a generalism talking about this topic. Which he didn't. But there are many posts where conservatives have said, "All you liberals..." or "You lib's..." etc.

So where's the political trash?

I wish I had an answer for that one. There are people on both sides of the aisle that it is pretty easy to tell where they stand. And there are those on both sides that you can't. I'll stop there.

It was more of a generalization of politics today than an attack on you. Its just sad to me that we have become so divided that we can't even talk to each other anymore. Just my 2 cents.

Boy did you hit the nail on the head with this post. I've thought about this very thing myself. I think there are some issues out there that transcend the politics of left and right, Dem or Rep (or Independent), and should be viewed from the position of American voter. Like they way we have allowed corporate interests to influence our government because of our apathetic and partisan voting habits. Whether your a con or a lib, we are both, systematically losing our country. And it's no ones fault but ours.

You make a very big point.

Oh I agree completely. I think its sad that lobyists really run this country and definitely not the people. Just look at big Tobacco and Oil. Anything they want to do is okay because they have enough money to dish out whenever they want. Its hard to belong to a party with stuff like that going on you know?

Many might disagree, but I think the real reason were in Iraq is to facilitate globalization at the behest of the WTO.

I started a thread a while back asking the question, "Is corporatism the biggest threat to peace on earth?" Half said yes, half said no.
