California lawmakers pass new semi-automatic weapons ban | Fox News

I didn't even know this one was coming, and neither did my wife who is a licensed counselor. Apparently they want to ban gun ownership of anyone who makes a verbal threat to such a counselor in the scope of their counseling. Wow that's really going to encourage extremist to get help. How dumb can these morons be? SO glad I left CA.

BTW SB299 is officially called the "report your boating accident in 7 days or else" bill.

...just saying.

But no one is looking to take away guns, right? Wait until some mental health professional decides that wanting to own a firearm for personal protection constitutes paranoia, suggesting mental illness of some type or another (perhaps a newly "discovered" syndrome), and before long they are all confiscated. But no, there is no such thing as incremental creep...

How many infringements, always called "reasonable restrictions", can be placed on one's 2A constitutional right to keep and bear arms before that right becomes infringed?

You ttwtt I have no idea how much the people in CA can take. The Cal Gun forum I used in title here because I'm active there is a huge disappointment to me. There were people there organizing a march on Sacramento last saturday and about 125 people showed up; its not like Colorado where the people actually did something for a change.

If you were to read the Cal Gun forum you'll see posts and polls about resistance, not registering (thus becoming a criminal) required firearms, and recall movements (why bother the election in 13 months away right?).

My take on the pro gun movement in California is that its money oriented. Seriously; what will the political action due to the value of my arsenal, will it go up, should I sell, etc etc...thats how I view it. There is no fight back politically, nothing but a few harsh words and zero attempts. I even read a post where the lawyer for the California Gun Owners Foundation was thrown out of court after making 13 lame attempts to submit motions on a legal action defending out of state retailers shipping Californians parts kits for magazines. (hi cap magazines).

Can't see the ban on semi-auto rifles passing as consitutional, especially since the DC vs. Heller decision. Semi-auto rifles are in common use. They just banned every rifle that accepts a magazine as the language of the bill reads "any semi-automatic rifle that accepts a magazine of 10 rounds or more." Thats every rifle that accepts a magazine! Idiots.

my reading of Miller, Heller and McDonald suggest this should be struck down. better yet all the turds who voted for that get vaporized by the alien invasion

But Hollyweird is still cranking out shoot em up action thrillers.

I think its time to use the "Lex Luthor" Plan and sink California.

1) Hollywood isn't the California legislator.

2) There's a difference between a movie and reality.

3) This law is dumb but this complaint is almost as bad.

You dont think Hollywood and its biggest stars dont influence California politics?
And the complaint is not dumb. Have you read many of the anti gun rants from some of Hollywoods biggest action stars?
You know, like Ahhhnalllld.

1) He never said that they were

2) he never said otherwise but commented on the hypocrisy of gun control and selling gun action movies

3) no, it goes against your rabid anti-gun philosophy

Incredibly wrong again.

I took his post to mean that California, as in the legislator is hypothetical because Hollywood makes action films, that would be unfair since the two are different.

There's a difference between movies and reality, its not hypocritical to sell a fantasy while knowing that it is a fantasy and to do it for real would be wrong. For example you may watch a porno where a husband cheats on his wife and find it very arousing, but if that happened in reality especially if it was your wife cheating on you then your reaction would be different. Fantasy v. reality. Just like we can watch John McClain Die Hard for the 8th time and leave a body count in the hundreds and find it awesome, whereas if it was actually happening around us it would be a horrible experience. Fantasy vs. reality. Enjoying the fantasy is not hypocritical.

I disagree with the law, its difficult to say that's an anti-gun philosophy.

1. True but Hollywood does holds influence over the Legislator.

2. True but there is a hypocrisy when make shoot em up action films but then go out and promote that the common man cannot have his 2nd amendment right since he can't be trusted by the elitist class.

3. Only to one who isn't pro 2nd amendment.
