"What does Putin want? His aims go well beyond Ukraine. As the Atlantic’s Anne Applebaum summarizes: He “wants to put so much strain on Western and democratic institutions, especially the European Union and NATO, that they break up. He wants to keep dictators in power wherever he can, in Syria, Venezuela, and Iran. He wants to undermine America, to shrink American influence, to remove the power of the democracy rhetoric that so many people in his part of the world still associate with America. He wants America itself to fail.”

Trump’s foreign policy sought to do much of what Putin wants to achieve, including intimidating Ukraine by withholding vital defensive weapons. Trump, like his role model in Moscow, favored weakening NATO, elevating dictators (from China to Turkey to North Korea to Hungary to Russia), undermining democratic elections, demonizing the media (the best check against power-hungry politicians) and finding common ground with kleptocratic-style governments.

...Certainly, there is a disconnect on the right, with many Republicans in the Senate trying to find some way to blame President Biden for insufficient resolve in opposing Putin’s invasion scheme. (Republicans in disarray!) But just a couple of years ago, these Republicans were perfectly content supporting a president who extorted Ukraine to get dirt on Biden, tried to welcome Russia back into the Group of Seven, provided cover for Russian interference in the 2016 election and parroted Russian propaganda on Crimea. It takes quite a feat of contortion for these Republicans to remain defenders of Trump and deplore his successor for not doing enough to stand up to Putin."

The only difference is, Putin attacks a foreign country, Trump attacks his own country's democratic institutions.

Obama sent blankets to the Ukraine. Trump sent weapons. Remember?

Yanukovich was removed from office during that time...PHYSICALLY REMOVED, by the Ukrainian people, and the Ukrainian Rada (their parliamentary body) RATIFIED it.
I guess that doesn't count for anything unless you believe Trump was behind the scenes in 2013 helping the Ukrainians 😆😆😆

What part do you object to?

And he's done the exact opposite. NATO hasn't been united like this since 9/11.

He wants white supremacist, systemically oppressive, privileged, patriarchal America to fail? He's undermining that America founded upon the backs of slaves?

Oh, wait, that's when we're talking about something else. When we talk about Russia, America becomes the shining light on the hill, that bastion of freedom and democracy that other nations look to for inspiration. We're only white suprremacist and systemically racist -- borderline fascist and Nazi - when the desired "narrative" demands it.

Applebaum is plain wrong about Ukraine here - she says the US intimidated Ukraine by withholding defensive weapons? That's absurd. The US gave far more weapons under Trump than under Obama or the current Admin. And it was under the Obama admin that the US intimidated Ukraine by - oh, let's see- helping depose a democratically elected leader. Trump undermined elections? Where? She doesn't mention the Euromaiden Coup in Ukraine, sponsored by Obama-Biden.

Extorting Ukraine??? Does she mean biden threatening to withhold billions if Ukraine didn't fire somebody?

If the prosector is not fired, you're not getting the billion dollars.

LOL - meddling? Interference? Obama and Biden were instrumental in a literal coup deposing the Ukrainian President and they extorted Ukraine by threatening to withhold a billion dollars if they didn't fire a prosecutor. Jesus Christ.

he wants to destroy America for one thing. Biggest reason why he wanted Trump in 2016, and again in 2020.

It's pretty obvious he gets more when Democrats are in power. He got crimea under Obama Biden, and now he's getting the separatist states in Ukraine. Under Trump, he held off.

Got an answer yet OP ?

Why did you post low grade propaganda and not make the Gullibles aware of it from the start ?

yes, he gets more of a response...LOL.

If you bothered to do ANY research on Viktor Shokin you would make such a false claim. The Russian oligarchs were stealing money from Ukraine and Shokin was protecting them. Shokin's office was so corrupt Ukrainians were outside of his office demanding his removal after a major scandal where his prosecutors were caught with cash and diamonds from bribes. That's why Biden and all the nations trying to help Ukraine wanted Shokin fired.

But do facts even matter to Trump supporters? No. You just keep spewing discredited talking points.

and probably in 2024 again. Putin wants to complete the job Trump started.

What? This is so full of BS.
Democrats ignore the Obama/Biden experience with Russia/Putin. The reset, the 2014 invasion of part of Ukraine. Blind, deaf, dumb are the democrats. The world is in the mess it's in because of weak democrats.
The left claims Trump was Putins puppet? Well then why did Putin wait until now to execute this latest phase of his expansion? He didn't do it during Trump because he couldn't, he was afraid of what might happen. He's not afraid of Biden. Biden told him he would not send US troops to fight in Ukraine. Biden's boy got money from Russians oligarchs. Watch what China does in the next year. China is watching Joe's reaction to Putin.
How blind the left is, or complicit.
Communist goals for USA.
