I called my husband a bastard ****face and proceeded to tell him all the many horrible ways I hoped he'd die - being rag tagged by "a groups of fat ***** bulls" was on the list, if I remember correctly.

:) See - a lot of people fly off the handle and say really stupid **** like that.

Yes, in that there is really nothing a woman holding his infant daughter could do to deserve getting punched in the face. If he's that enraged, he should leave.

Of course there is. She could be aiming a gun at him, brandishing a knife at him, hitting him with her fist, hitting him with an object, etc. But you know what? I wasn't there. I don't know if she actually was holding her daughter, what she was doing to him or what he actually did to her. All that I know is I heard some recording on the internet that could be anyone, or it could be him in a really pissed off state of mind saying anything without even listening to what the other person has said. Because, you know, that's what people do when they're really pissed off.

no ****ing ****, right? What he was saying doesn't surprise me or even bother me in the least. Just sounds like a typical heated argument.

Yeah - wrong and stupid, yes.
Meaning he's a horrible person? No

I've heard worse in music and porn coming out of a man's mouth.

What a winner. Seriously WHY do we as a culture pay so much attention to them? Also the fact that this is going to be all over the news is going to be funny.
What culture?
As a society, we are little better than Gibson. Some here even admit to it.....which is a step in the right direction.

That's the second time today somebody shocked me into silence.

This reminds me of my dad being beat until he passed out, when he was five. He's sure he must have done something really bad Like being a five year old ?????.

Beating solves nothing, only makes things worse. When will man ever learn this tidbit of wisdom?

I know, that's what I told him! I said dad (but I wanted to say honey, because you know that's not a grown man talking), there is nothing you could have done to deserve that. There's nothing a child is capable of doing, to deserve that.

because beating women and children isn't about solving anything, it's about dominance and insecurity.

a don't see how a beating could be self defense.

If someone put a gun in my face.
And i was unarmed
And let's pretend I *could* beat someone's ass.
I'd be giving the beating of a lifetime until I knew that I was out of harm and they were no longer a threat.

If someone is attacking you, and you beat them back, it most certainly is.

People are acting like if a woman gets hit, she couldn't have POSSIBLY done any damn thing to deserve it. It was abuse! She was beaten! She was defenseless! All because she's female? It's bull****. It's insulting.

Bitching at someone occasionally isn't abuse - women do it all the time, we're not labeled abusers.

The occasional tiff - maybe a smack or two - sure, it's not right but it's not wretched, either . .. in poor taste but still not abuse.

Something only because abuse if it's constant and routine.

So, if Mel's *always* talking smack to his wife and so on - then the 'abuse' arguments would hold water.

You actually don't think knocking your SO's teeth out doesn't constitute abuse, as long as it's rare?

How about for children? If you never hit your kid, but lose your temper and give him a spiral fracture one day, that's not abuse?

I was wondering when somebody would notice that those apples are oranges.

You've got to hit somebody pretty damn hard to knock their teeth out.

I think this is a very good blog post, especially this bit:

While I was grieving the above-mentioned situation, my therapist said something that initiated my healing process even faster. She told me that she would rather be a victim than a perpetrator. At first I was appalled, thinking that I never wanted to be a victim! But then her sentence sunk into the depth of my soul. I was proud of myself for diffusing the fury of anger within myself instead of inflicting it onto anyone else, including my ex. I was proud of myself for being able to walk away from the loss of physical possessions and personal finances in exchange for my health, happiness and personal integrity. Now, this is what Mel Gibson needs to learn. I believe that Oksana has her equal part in this tragic situation, but Mel's lack of control perfectly feeds her manipulative tactics. It is a jackpot attraction of dysfunction.

Probably the last person left alive of the entire human race.
But of course by then the matter will be of no importance.

Just want to find out the varying positions on this highly politically important subject. ;)

Edit: here are the the rants at the following site

RadarOnline.com

I think he's in need of some serious psychiatric help, and I really do hope he seeks/finds it. I feel bad for the guy because he probably has great potential, but is so screwed up that he just can't let go of his real problems.

Perhaps it's up to the individuals involved in the occasional fight to determine if it's abuse or not and whether they will file charges or not . . . instead of everyone else looking at limited information and then casting a judgment according to what we perceive or what we determine is unacceptable for *ourselves*

And children have nothing to do with this domestic-violence-and-adults topic we're discussing.

Mel is a anti semite, racist, and a sexist scumbag. He is also an incredibly gifted actor, can't wait for his next movie.

I think he has talent I do not think he "gifted". He got lucky and went with the flow no where near as gifted as Van Gogh. Now his mental illness is coming out.
