What do you do if you're Israel?

Scenario:

-Hezboulah has a battery of 122mm rocket launchers, truck-mounted Katyushas, lobbing HE into Israel as fast as they can be reloaded.
-Hezboulah has parked this battery in the middle of a Lebanese schoolyard, filled with Lebanese children
-The Katyusha battery can only be dealt with from the air

What do you do?

I don't like taking out children. Especially school yards full of children. Even if the children have been raised on images of jews born from pigs and other demonizations of jews and the west. Even if the children are so indoctrinated that they hate Israel and America with every molecule of their being....I still think they're kids and thus young enough to have the brainwashing reversed.

I guess it's impossible to clear the areas in Israel that can be reached since according to you they're lobbing shite as fast as it can be reloaded....so I guess to save people from dying in Israel you gotta take out the school yard children and all.

But I don't like it. And I don't think all the scenarios where children are taken out are that way......where there is no other choice. I do blame Hezbollah more for the deaths of children because I believe they actually like when children are killed as the media benefits them and brings sympathy to their cause. I think you could fairly argue that "dead children" are a tool in their arsenal.

However if you're not careful and kill citizens with reckless abandon you become as bad as the enemy you are fighting. Clearly this hasn't happened yet. If Israel killed with the same reckless abandon as Hezbollah this whole thing would have been over before it started.

Seriously though, they need to close all the schools some how. It's sad when parents are so blinded by religion that they will let their children be used as human shields.

These children are seeing their neighbors and family die, their town destroyed, and lives ruined. You have to assume a few of these children are going to be joning the ranks of Hezboulah as soon as possible.

You go into the infected area with force, and eliminate the problem from the ground. This will be seen as an invasion, and there is truth in the observation, it IS an invasion. If however, Lebanon cannot eliminate the threat for whatever reason, they must be invaded to remove the destructive capability from these aggressors. We tend to call this action.....WAR.
War is not merely a series of battles to destroy a physical enemy however, it is a psycological proccess as well. To win a war, the enemy must be defeated on all levels, or completely eliminated from the face of the Earth. The second option here is extremely unlikely, and the first will require a change in the Civilian support for this enemy.....Blowing up Children from the Air is unlikely to help with this change.

Isreal needs to go in, remove the Hezboulah Town by Town, and remain long enough to protect those children from being used as shields again. Obviously The fledgling Lebonese Government Cannot (or will not) do this themselves.

i do not believe the Israeli Govt, military or citizens take any joy in the killing of innocents while they are engaging Hezbollah, especially children

however i do believe hamas, hezbollah, and their supporters take great joy in the results of arbitrarily fired missles and suicide bombings directly targeting innocents

their cities are under constant random bombardment

i believe it is highly unlikely that israel knew all those kids were in the cellar hiding
however i do believe Hezbollah knew exactly where the children were
and yet hezbollah continued to wage attacks from that vicinity
hezbollah was all too willing to sacrifice the children so they can use it in their anti-israeli propaganda

What an idiotic concept!! Doing this would only move the Hexbollah around and expose the Israeli troops to unacceptable danger. It would accomplish NOTHING except to get Israeli troops killed. Try again...

Actually the intent of the post was to say...no airstrike, thus the ground invasion. Though Airstrikes may be required to prepare an area before forces are deployed, it would be on an individual basis. In this case I would not risk the attack from above....but instead wait for a better opportunity, or send in special forces and pick off the bastards from a belltower.

1) think about what the Geneva convention says about deliberately targeting civilians...even those being used as shield.
2) Your gonna lose a lot of the world's support for such an openly cruel move. The self defense flag isn't gonna help you much no matter how much you think it's true.
3)Can you think of anything that would bring the rest of the Arab countries to Lebanon's aid faster than killing a yard full of children intentionally?

Really think about that last one for a second. The westernized world is gonna be sickened by such a strike. The Islamic world is gonna want blood. Could you really blame them for the retaliation strike they would run?

A land retaliation would cost Israel soldiers but the over all cost would be less.

1: There's nothing illegal, in any sense of the word, in killing civilians that happen to be around or near or or in a legitimate military target, even if you KNOW those civilians are thaere and you attack that target KNOWING that civilians will die.

3: A land retalliation is ruled out by the givens of the question. Don't argue the givens.
