What Democrats did to Illinois

Very readable and interesting twitter thread regarding the intractable economic problems of Illinois.

It's the terrible job of policing and prosecuting that has been done. You just can't make excuses for lawlessness and let it go.

Actually, many Dems do make excuses and "let it go."

They blame violent crime on poverty and -- of course -- systemic you-know-what.

They think that they are being very clever.

I doubt that their great-grandchildren will feel any gratitude.

Perhaps if the Republicans did more outreach into Chicago's inner cities they could get elected, then solve all there problems.

Yeah, surprise, crime is a systemic issue with underlying causes and isn't just an indictment of the character of a group of individuals.

This isn't a disputable opinion, it's just ****ing facts.

They elected Democrats for the past 50 years and their problems have multiplied.

What do you have to say to that?

They get all riled up every election year to "fight for change" and "equality" just to run down to the poll and vote for the same democrat party that's been in charge of the same slums for the past 50 years and think they're going to change something. 🤔

The stock yards used to be in Chicago.

Why you try to explain that to a Hispanic supermajority of central Americans soon to running american cities.

While white upper class liberals might buy that line, the new majority....Will not

"Some random asshole tweeted that the left is poopy. THIS IS SERIOUS DEBATE, FOLKS!"

Seeing as you make tons of openly and proudly racist posts around DP, I think we're going to have to go ahead and ignore your "opinion" that there's no such thing a systemic racism.

It is an interesting read .. Chicago currently owes roughly $33Billion to it's pension funds, They have boxed themselves into being liable for pension payments, maintaining healthcare benefits and establishing a funding pool to be 90%+ funded by 2045. Chicago definitely needs to revisit pension and consider reform or it will continue to be unsustainable.

You would think a liberal strong hold would be a utopia, and we are seeing quite the opposite outcome.

yes .. and some random internet personality responded to the contrary.

The fact is .. Chicago is a shit hole that is plagued with pension debt, and it doesn't matter who is tweeting about it. It doesn't change that reality.

It's funny that no democrat party supporters bother to chime in and tell us what a blissful utopia they've created in Chicago. A once vibrant and industrious city, before democrat party control. Now it's become exactly what the democrat party wanted for it.

Because it's not like they didn't have the time and money to make it what they wanted. So either they fleeced the money amd ran, or it's exactly what they wanted. Blissful and beautiful city of liberal progress

A blissful utopia where 800 people are dead from murder this year.

Sure, sure, but hey, who cares?

The democrat party is in charge and the man at the wheel isn't orange.

That's literally all that matters to these people

Chicago is a shithole with a shithole mayor. How many hundreds have been murdered under her watch?

People that complain about Chicago have never lived there and would never live there. Why should people in Chicago care what they think? I've lived there, and it's a great city to raise your family in. It really is very nice.

If anyone has any inclinations about moving to/living in Chicago/Chicagoland Area, please ignore the haters in this thread.
