A nice gem by Pat Monahan (lead singer for Train)

Her Eyes - Pat Monahan

She's not afraid,
she just likes to use her night light
When she gets paid, true religion gets it all,
if they fit right
She's a little bit manic, completely organic,
doesn't panic, for the most part
She's old enough to know, and young enough not to say no
To any chance that she gets,
for home plate tickets to see the Mets
Like everybody, she's in over her head,
dreads Feds, Grateful Dead, and doesn't take meds
She's a Gemini/Capricorn,
thinks all men are addicted to porn
I don't agree with her half the time,
but damn I'm glad she's mine!

Her eyes...
that's where hope lies
that's where blue skies
meet the sunrise
Her eyes...
that's where I go
when I go home

She got the kinda strength,
that every man wishes he had
She loved Michael Jackson, up until he made Bad
Tells me that she lived about a hundred lives,
scares me to death when she thinks and drives
Says cowboy hats, make her look fat,
and I'm so glad she's mine!

Her eyes...
that's where hope lies
that's where blue skies
meet the sunrise
Her eyes...
that's where I go
when I go home

She doesn't know the word "impossible"
Don't care where I've been,
and doesn't care where we're going to
She takes me as I am, and that ain't easy
She's beautiful. So beautiful...

And sometimes, I think she's truly crazy,
and I love it!

Her eyes...
that's where hope lies
that's where blue skies
always meet the sunrise
Her eyes...
that's where I go
when I go home
Her eyes...
that's where hope lies
that's where blue skies
always meet the sunrise
Her eyes...
that's where I go
When I go home

She's not afraid, she just likes to use her night light

Raul Malo has a incredible talent, I thoroughly enjoy his style of entertainment.

Out in the West Texas town of El Paso
I fell in love with a Mexican girl.
Night-time would find me in Rosa's cantina;
Music would play and Felina would whirl.

Blacker than night were the eyes of Felina,
Wicked and evil while casting a spell.
My love was deep for this Mexican maiden;
I was in love but in vain, I could tell.

One night a wild young cowboy came in,
Wild as the West Texas wind.
Dashing and daring,
A drink he was sharing
With wicked Felina,
The girl that I loved.

So in anger I

Challenged his right for the love of this maiden.
Down went his hand for the gun that he wore.
My challenge was answered in less than a heart-beat;
The handsome young stranger lay dead on the floor.

Just for a moment I stood there in silence,
Shocked by the FOUL EVIL deed I had done.
Many thoughts raced through my mind as I stood there;
I had but one chance and that was to run.

Out through the back door of Rosa's I ran,
Out where the horses were tied.
I caught a good one.
It looked like it could run.
Up on its back
And away I did ride,

Just as fast as I

Could from the West Texas town of El Paso
Out to the bad-lands of New Mexico.

Back in El Paso my life would be worthless.
Everything's gone in life; nothing is left.
It's been so long since I've seen the young maiden
My love is stronger than my fear of death.

I saddled up and away I did go,
Riding alone in the dark.
Maybe tomorrow
A bullet may find me.
Tonight nothing's worse than this
Pain in my heart.

And at last here I

Am on the hill overlooking El Paso;
I can see Rosa's cantina below.
My love is strong and it pushes me onward.
Down off the hill to Felina I go.

Off to my right I see five mounted cowboys;
Off to my left ride a dozen or more.
Shouting and shooting I can't let them catch me.
I have to make it to Rosa's back door.

Something is dreadfully wrong for I feel
A deep burning pain in my side.
Though I am trying
To stay in the saddle,
I'm getting weary,
Unable to ride.

But my love for

Felina is strong and I rise where I've fallen,
Though I am weary I can't stop to rest.
I see the white puff of smoke from the rifle.
I feel the bullet go deep in my chest.

From out of nowhere Felina has found me,
Kissing my cheek as she kneels by my side.
Cradled by two loving arms that I'll die for,
One little kiss and Felina, good-bye.

I remember listening to the original as a child. This was a good version.

I never get tired of this song.

Need something gentle when I wake up. :)

Another happy classic.

I love his voice. Some of the happiest music of my childhood was country (blame my parents). :) Especially Johnny Cash. The first many minutes are great, watching the inmates react to him.

BDBoop I would have never guessed you being a Cash fan, check this out.

I cried the day he died. Cried. But I knew he wasn't going to live any length of time after June passed. She was his life.

Thanks for the share. Of course I've heard them all before, my dad used to play "the broom" and sing along. "HELLO! I'm Johnny Cash."

and here is the legend Ray Price, BTW he is damn near 80 years old.

It to was a sad day for me as well , my dad was a very big Cask fan I used to hear him all the time and grew to appreciate him and become a fan myself.

Did you read any of his books, or see Gospel Road? That movie is available on Netflix. I need to see it again. It had a profound impact on me.

I also saw the Hollywood movie, it made his life real to me. I knew the story of the death of his brother but actually seeing how it affected his family made it hit home.

Actually I really don't know much about his personnal life except that it was very rough, I should see his movie...shame on me.

I didn't want to, I have the actual memories of all I had seen and read of him, but it was well done! Not as great as "Ray" (RAWKED) but good nonetheless.

Grab "The Man in Black", you can probably get it uber-cheap on half.com or amazon.
