My favorite Bee Gees cut. I have this on two different media - Best of Bee Gees Volume2 (vinyl/1973/Polydor) and Best of Bee Gees Volume2 (CD/Polydor).

The audio difference between the vinyl and CD versions is striking. I playback the vinyl version on a 1966 Grundig Majestic stereo console (Germany/tubes/400 watts/6 speakers). The song is arranged in a progressive manner so that each succeeding chorus has added elements (horns, strings, etc). On the vinyl, this facet hits you physically... like a hammer blow. The power is immense. This power projection doesn't translate as well on the CD version.

I play this song on bass guitar and also on synthesizer (piano/horns/violins). For bassists... avoid the temptation to overplay. I've fiddled with it for years and the best bass arrangement is the recorded one. To obtain the correct tonal aspect, flat-wound strings are a must.
