It's Memorial Day in the USA. A three day weekend. Trip? Grilling? Go see Top Gun 2? Vegas? Hookers and blow? Some patriotic activity? :)

Tonight (Friday) having free dinner at local casino. Meeting friends and might even donate to the local Native American tribe by way of slot machines.

Saturday, weeding, planting, yard work, rehearse new/old material, grill steaks out with the family and play fetch with the dog.

Sunday, church in the morning, then I plan on catching up on some paperwork and maybe do some laundry. But, overall, just relax.

Monday, go do a little metal detecting up at the brother-in-law's place, (up nort' der hey.) Maybe dig up some old relics.

Warm enough to swim, so, lots of work in the back yard, cleaning, scrubbing tile.

Probably too warm for a really long bike ride, who knows.

Dinner with friends tonight.

Comedy show tomorrow, Dave Attell.
Sunday in the pool with Mai-Tais, maybe grill some corn on barbie.

I spend time with my family before a business trip. I think to go to the river and fry a barbecue.

I'm voting NDP by mail in our Provincial election, going to a buddy's house to smoke Cuban cigars and tomorrow evening going to a reading of Best of Lenin. It's kind of a musical, set to a background of Pete Seeger.

Got some club activities.

What I did, well I was scared to death for one thing. I had forgotten the memorial day weekend tradition in Margraten (watching sports) but when 2 F16 jets fly over that low you get a rude awakening so to speak from my TV almost slumber. First I thought a plane had been in trouble as I live close to an airfield but then remembered Memorial day and after looking at the defense webpage it was absolutely obvious why these jets flew over so low. I live about 10 miles from the cemetery in Margraten and an F16 flies about 1900 miles an hour (but I think they will have flown a bit slower) 10 miles is just a few seconds for these planes.

We’ve had the Blue Angels fly over quite a few times. not sure if they’re going to this year. seems sometimes it’s a surprise to the spectators of the parade

If the aircraft flew faster than about 965 KPH your house wouldn’t have any windows.

Seizing the means of production and mercilessly smashing the sabataeurs.

Saturday and Sunday were at our pool club during the day, firepit and smores for the kiddos at night.
This morning, my son decorated his bicycle and participated in the town's Memorial Day parade.

Not sure if we will go back to the club this afternoon or just hang out at home.

Lots of yardwork (been traveling for six weeks and stuff built up) and grilling.

But still, if these things fly over that low you have the bejezus scared out of you. And I am used to larger jet planes flying over on their way to the airport that is about 10k away but these were much lower and much much louder.

I spent time with my wife and kiddo. We went to see her family, which was fun. Got to sleep in a little. Also, I kept my work computer closed to take a little break from it. I'm not checking email until tonight. It has been a good weekend.
