With the Foley scandal still swirling as a backdrop in Washington, leading Ohio moral conservatives are beginning to call for Rep. Ted Strickland, D-Ohio, to withdraw from the 2006 Ohio gubernatorial race, in light of disclosures made concerning his 1998 campaign manager who in 1994 pleaded guilt to criminal misdemeanors involving sexual improprieties with minors.
As reported yesterday, Strickland employed as his 1998 campaign manager an individual who in 1994 pleaded guilty to exposing himself and masturbating in front of pre-teen girls at an Athens, Ohio, school. Even after being informed of the sexual misconduct offenses, Strickland allegedly took his campaign manager on a private trip to Italy to celebrate his 1998 re-election, leaving Mrs. Strickland at home in Kentucky.
Phil Burress, president of Citizens for Community Values in Cincinnati is calling for Strickland to withdraw from the Ohio gubernatorial race."

Will the Dems refute him and call for him to resign from the campaign or will they support him?

Oh, they'll support him alright. Dems never call for the resignation of their miscreants, because then they would be acting like Republicans.

I thought Foley was a Bonafide Leader type fellow.....not a campaign manager.

Damn....I really need to study more

Seems rather silly to compare these two situations.....dont you think?

You're point being what? It's OK to have a child sex offender on your staff, deny you knew him, then deny you knew about the offenses and then fly off on vacation with him?

Foley is gone, the Dems are trying to make an issue about other Republicans knowing he was a danger to young children. That is questionable. This is not, Strickland knew this guys background and denied it.

Either fry Hastert and Strickland or let them both off. They did pretty much exactly the same thing and should pay the same price. Republicans and democrats have FAR more similarities than differences.

Well provide some evidence Hastert knew Foley was involved sexually with someone underage and then we can agree they are equal and Hastert is liable, until then I'm glad we agree Strickland should end his campaign.
