Here is my dilemma: For political and national news, the Washington Post would be my go-to source. Its homepage does not have an infinite scroll (which is very annoying) like CNN, Reuters, and the Associated Press. Unlike other newspapers, I do not get the "You have reached your free article limit" popup. One month would cost only $1 if I wanted to subscribe. But they track everything (IP address, Internet path, computer, you name it) sell information provided to buy a subscription, If they see a "do not track" signal from my browser, that also will be recorded. Subscribers have no privacy: All of the information they provide is sold to third parties.
Now, my default Internet browser, Mozilla Firefox, has a good security system. It blocks fingerprinting, cryptominers, tracking content and cookies (with customized options) to the extent that the user wants. Strict blocking in all windows can cause (or definitely will cause) some websites to break, so I don't use the maximum settings. So I am not sure if the WP, which says in its privacy policy they collect all of that information, will cause security issues on my computer. I need to subscribe to read all full articles and opinion pieces. If I could be confident the WP will get none of my persona or technical interaction information, I would already be a subscriber by now.
FYI I have an Apple desktop with the latest OS and the current version of Firefox (77).
Even if you don't care about the WP, I am sure there are many other websites where people run into the same privacy policy problem, regardless of which browsers they are using.
