In case anybody doesnt know who a freeper is, freepers are people, usually high school or college students who are paid a small amount of money by one of the 2 political parties to push the party line in internet forums, to vilify those who do not agree with the party, and in some cases, attempt to takeover an internet political forum by making their side the dominant ideology of that forum, while pushing others out. On any political forum whose management is not very disciplined, freepers can be a source of much havoc. Good discipline here so the mayhem freepers might want to see did not happen. Freepers can be of either political party, although there are many more Reublican freepers than Democratic ones, owing to the fact that it was Republicans who invented freeping. However, Democrats learn fast, and these days are catching up.

Now that the election is over, watch this board until the end of the year. A few of those who have not returned since the election were most probably paid political operatives (very low paid, free pizza once a week, operatives), or in other words, freepers. Happens every election cycle, and these lamers are usually not successful.

I was under the impression they were called freepers as in Free republic, and were only from the right.

It originally was, then spread to other Conservative publications, and eventually, the Republican party. But there are Dems doing it too now. The Dems didnt invent freeping, but Rush Limbaugh didnt invent radio either. LOL.

Huh. Well, where do I sign up? I could use the extra bucks.
If I become a paid operative for both the dems and the Repuglicons, do I get paid twice as much? Free pizza with extra pepperoni? What?

At least one rabidly partisan person comes to mind for this catagory. But I thought the term "freeper" stood for a denizen or follower of freerepublic.com, a well known conservative board

On occasion I'll browse through both FR and DU (if you don't know what these are, you probably don't have a clue about what this thread is about) and at least FR has one foot in reality most of the time. Have you ever read some of the crap that's posted at DU? These clowns make Cindy Sheehan look normal.

That depends upon your perspective I guess. I've seen nuts on both sides.

Freepers are people who are members of the Free Republic forum. I don't think any self respecting Lefty Liberal would appreciate being called a Freeper.

Freepers on the Free Republic forum were indirectly responsible for the death of Nick Berg. Don't bother asking for a link, its old news and can be easily googled if one desperately needs proof. But suffice it to say, Freepers on the Free Republic forum operate very similar to the Nazi youths. They'd turn in their own grandmother if they thought it would help Republicans stay in power.

Also, Freepers tend to have group think personalities whereas I don't see that in Lefty Liberals too much. So if Freepers do take over a forum its because they operate in groups. They seldom add any substance to a discussion. Rather they tend to just post agreeing statements to a Rightwinger who has the talking point down pact or else they just insult and flame opposing views. They really don't have the brain capacity for much else.

Anyway Danarhea, what makes you think Freepers or anyone else for that matter are getting paid to disrupt and take over forums? Do you have a link or any proof?

Mindless agreements to overrun a forum. Hmmm a couple posts in this forum come to mind hehehe.

Ya umm tell me how putting his anti-war father on the enemies list got Berg killed? Nick Berg was arrested by the Iraqi military and handed over to U.S. forces then released, are you insinuating that the U.S. military handed him over to the insurgency? WTF are you talking about? Do you have any evidence that the U.S. forces detained Berg because of the Free Republic? That's like saying that the U.S. detained Nick Berg because he was interviewed by Michael Moore.

Like another poster said ateast the Freepers at times have one foot in reality but DU'er's like you are just batshit crazy.

This coming from a clear DU'er, what a crock ofshit, atleast at the Freerepublic you're allowed to disagree with the set agenda and party line to an extent but if you pull that at the DU and say something crazy like "Bush didn't blow up the WTC" or "Bush isn't Hitler" you get banned ASAP.

The left engages in groupthink just as much as the right, libertarians, Yankees fans and pretty much every group of humans on earth.

Let's put it this way; if Ken Mehlman attempted to give me a free reach-around, I suspect he'd be bitterly disappointed.

LOL. I tried to get on the DU once. But they just chewed me up and spit me out. I guess I wasn't Liberal enough for their taste. You too, huh? Oh well. Anyway, I think the more you get to know me, you'll find I'm more of an Independant and a defender of the underdog, than a cut and dried Liberal.

PS: The Freepers made an enemies list of American citizens who were opposed to the Iraq invasion and turned it over to the FBI. Nick Berg's company was on that list. The FBI were the last to see Berg alive in Baghdad before he appeared on the video getting beheaded. The question still remains, why was Berg wearing an orange US detainee outfit when he got beheaded? Not to mention the convience of the Rightwing suddenly having a poster boy to compete for headlines with Abu Graib torture photos. But that's another topic in itself which has already been hashed over and over all over the internet. We don't need to dwell on it any further here, do we?
