There are rich people in every most state who do much the same thing. That is just reality. And that does NOTHING to negate his case that liberalism works in California and should be emulated elsewhere.
Yeah, but California is overwhelmingly controlled by progressives who hold it up as a model of what progressive thought can accomplish. And we've seen the dystopian reality as white, conservative, working-class families spent the better part of four decades fleeing it as well-paying manufacturing jobs in industries like autos and aerospace dried up. (I'm Exhibit A. I left there in 1994 and have been back once since, even though I was born and raised there.) Increasingly, the state has become Balkanized into two states: one for wealthy white people with their wine bistros and comedy clubs, and another of urbanized ghettos for the masses of poor Latinos and blacks who get tossed a bone by the system so they can subsist and be kept docile-like on the government-funded plantation.
