'We control them all': Donald Trump Jr. texted

The text was dated November 5th! Proof positive they were planning on calling the election stolen and plotting to have it overturned in the courts and if that failed then by the GOP legislators BEFORE the election. For God's sake what is it going to take to get Trumpers to realize what he planned to do to democracy and what he will do if he ever gets back in the WH! How can any decent American ever say they would support him?

Wonder what shiny object Tucker will toss out Monday? Even Hunter's recycled laptop isn't shiny enough for this.

The case against the Proud Boys leaders is one of the highest-profile prosecutions to emerge from the Justice Department's probe into the Capitol riot. Donohoe's cooperation with investigators, as outlined in his plea deal, could significantly boost prosecutors' case against the remaining defendants and possibly spur others to cut their own agreements and cooperate.​

Under the deal, Donohoe pleaded guilty to conspiring to obstruct an official proceeding, and assaulting, resisting or impeding an officer. The government agreed to drop the remaining counts against him in the indictment.​

At Friday's hearing, Judge Timothy Kelly asked Donohoe how he pleaded to the two specified counts. In both instances, Donohoe calmly replied with a single word: "Guilty."​

My favorite thing about threads like this is watching the trump foot soldiers do work for trump for free while not even realizing they've been manipulated.

And we know the age group of most of these people. The whole old and wise thing totally flew right by them.
 
The more enablers and supporters of Trump talk about Trump and his enablers and supporters the worse it looks for all of them.

The irony is how often they will cling to conspiracy theory and "the big lie" then turn around and claim it was a fake coup, basically trying to reduce Jan 6th to an overstimulated visit to the capitol.

It's already been shown Trump and Co. wanted to overturn the election through nefarious ways. This is no longer in questions, the texts, emails all prove it. If you are a Trump supporter a this point, than you support Trump's Big Lie. Period. And we have Republican LEADERS in congress that have said they would support Trump as president. So when the Republican leaders say they will support a man like Trump, who tried to overturn the election using nefarious ways, what does that say about Republican support for democracy?

The election was Nov 3.
The texts are from Nov 5.
The networks did not call the election for Biden until Nov 7
Nov 5 is after Nov 3 and before Nov 7

The texts show that the Trump campaign was planning what to do should the counts wind up with a Biden victory.
It would be hard to believe that during the same week, the Biden campaign was not planning steps to take should the count wind up showing a Trump victory.
You guys need to chill out.

Yes it shows they were trying to figure out how to steal an election. Sorry if some of us take anti American behavior seriously. If you can find evidence of the Biden campaign doing the same, then show it. Until then it is just an excuse covering for an anti American administration.

You can't deny that from Trump to his WH aids, all his lawyers and pundits, to all the congress traitors, to the insurrectionists themselves, to the 80 republicans who forged fake electors, we came awful close to some sort of major constitutional crisis.

If Nancy hadn't reconvened in the wee hours of the morning, no one is sure what may have happened. Had Pence not followed the law and played Trump's game, who knows what would have happened. Had the rioters actually gotten to any lawmakers and injured or killed them, who knows what would have happened.

And then there is the SCOTUS. Had they taken up a case, who knows what would have happened.

It has become painfully obvious that the Trump gang had planned a coup from the moment they knew they were going to lose. It's by sheer luck and a handful of people who cared more about the constitution than keeping the coup plotter in power, is why we have the result we do today.

You can hate Biden and hate all democrats. But there was no widespread election fraud and Biden won the election. This whole thing has been one huge scandalous scam from day one that's not over yet. What a waste of everyone's time. A typical Trump fiasco.

There is no way on earth all those details, plans and thoughts were formulated and communicated in one or two days. Even Jr's lawyer said many of those emails dated the 5th were forwarded by others. Let's wait until Eastmans emails and texts get mapped to Donnie's and I am certain we will find these plans were being hatched well in advance of the 3rd.....but you hold on to your defense of those who would destroy democracy for their own personal gain.

It would be reasonable to believe that they were looking at areas where a recount or some such thing as outlined in the various election law might be requested.

It is totally unreasonable to believe they were looking to have legislators ignore the votes of the people and/or seat bad faith electors.

If that were to be found to be true, they would be as corrupt as the Trump bunch. However , I am very confident that no such thing happened on the Democratic side....and thankfully GOP election officials stood for democracy and integrity. ...unlike those you choose to defend.

I believe that. They would be writing their concession speech, just as every other president has done. If they had any valid court cases, they would have brought them. They would not have been planning a coup that culminated in a riot at the capitol with death and injury.

Well, when it starts from the theory that Trump wuz robbed, and that the state legislatures can constitutionally decide how to allocate their electors, then next up is how to to use the latter to fix the former.

It was completely unreasonable to think that the five state legislatures (some of them controlled by Democrats and some also not in session), would agree to vote to rescind their electoral votes from Biden and give them to Trump; that the Biden folks wouldn't fight tooth and nail in court to stop this from happening, and that it would all be resolved between Nov 5 and mid December.

You guys need to chill out.

Yes-- they would have been planning how to object to the vote count and turn defeat into victory.
Is that planning an assault upon democracy? Or does the hysteria only work one way?

When the electoral college met in December, and elected Biden, it was over. Biden was the president-elect.
As per the Constitution, Biden was going to be sworn in in January.

It wouldn't matter, legally for purposes of Biden being elected, if Pelosi never reconvened Congress to count the vote.
