Since the brutal crackdown began against protests disputing the results of the Belarusian presidential election on August 9, which are widely seen as falsified, many have come forward to tell horrific tales of torture and abuse at the hands of the country's security forces. RFE/RL's Belarus Service collected the testimonies of people who say they were victims of state-sanctioned violence on the streets and in the jails.

Belarusian's use the encrypted Telegram app and Polish telecom networks to get around regime censorship.

With the police, the governments (Russia/Belarus) usually recruit from the rural areas because the pay is better than most other local jobs they can find. The OMAN/KGB individuals didn't get there by chance. They are tested and individuals with a sadist/sociopath psychiatric profile are highly valued. They are paid well and will commit atrocities because they get off on it. In a similar manner, Russian mercenary outfits like the Vagner Group hire former Russian Spetznaz soldiers who are sadists and alcoholics.

How about another story? Belarusian automobile plant BELAZ won the tender for the supply of 96 dump trucks to India ahead of the Japanese and Americans. By the end of this year, BELAZ will ship 12 cars to India, and the rest next year. The total amount of the contract exceeds 300 million dollars.

Given the training regimen that Spetznaz need to go through. One could argue that they are sadist in their own right, affective sadist, but sadist nonetheless.

Other than obviously the specialized units, Russian soldiers are poorly fed and drink too much. IQ does not mean much if you are not eating properly and hung over.
