We are all god's children is what I'm told, a brotherhood of man if you will. I find this to be so far from the truth it ain't funny.

If we are all god's children and a brotherhood of man, why do we kill each other like vermin? Why is there so much hatred involved with religion that comes from religion? The jews are hated, the Muslims are hated, the Catholics are hated the protestants are hated, everyone hates everyone else when it comes to religion because they all believe only they have the true religion, then comes the violence to prove it. I see all these folks today attending their place of worship and I wonder why, why do so many believe in something that has never been proven to exist.

If god the father, god the son and god the holy ghost are all one, when jesus supposedly died on a cross, didn't that kill the other two since they are all one. Confusing no?

Half the good Christians on here drip venom towards others and can't understand when people like me challenge them.
 
I suspect the acceptance and charity preached by many religions has been twisted by adherents to include only people like them. To exclude "others".

This isn't surprising, as religions and gods are creations of human beings. That both tend to reflect both good and bad aspects of our personalities is to be expected.
 
Your primary mistake is that we are not god's children.
 
The Romans had the right idea. They didn't kill each other for not worshipping their gods. They plagiarized their conquered people's gods and brought them into their own ever-growing pantheon.

"Zeus, you say? Yeah, we got that too! We just call Him 'Jove'". "Isis? You betcha! Let me introduce you to Venus. She'll peel your grapes for you!"

In fact, it could be argued that adopting Christianity as the state religion killed the empire more than the barbarian hordes ever could. When you've got one half of the empire hating on the other half because they don't pray the right way, you know it's just a matter of time before they paint a white line down the middle and you better well stay on your side!

Out of the 8 billion people on this planet, a very small percentage kill each other. In all the recent 'wars you are talking about .00625% of the world's population, at worst.....not even. Where I live there is no violence at all for years on end. You are letting the news affect your thinking.

You do not respond because you can't conceive of reality, IMO. Not everyone sees things as you, thank goodness.
 
So now you want to try to use numbers to say we don't kill each other? That's crazy. Do you remember 1/6, be there it will be wild? How many gun deaths do we have each year in America alone? So you just keep on using your numbers to deny we kill each other.

I'm going to be blunt, if you find yourself asking "If God real, why bad thing happen?", it's because you haven't spent the time to actually read or educate yourself. If you want to read up on the theists answers to these questions and debate those conclusions, we could, but this is very much a 'you can lead a horse to water but can't make him drink' kind of situation.

Seriously - these are basic questions about the trinity and existence of evil which peasants in mudhuts resolved 1,500 years ago.

Oh please with the educate myself stuff, what you actually mean is, why don't I believe what you do. Bad things happen because there is no god that controls this stuff and if we are made in his image, he is one rotten entity.

Really I don’t mind what you believe. Id just be more impressed if you had takes that were more insightful than what the stoner kid was serving up in 100 level philosophy courses.

we are all created in God's image and potentially can become God's eternal children if we agree and conform to what his holy Book requires of us.

That man is created in the image of God, doesn't make them God's children. Adam was a created being, and was a son of God, but was not yet 'born of God'. He certainly would be later because all of God's children would come from Adam and Eve. The problem is that after the fall of man in the Garden, another seed line was introduced, the seed of the serpent. (Gen. 3:15) So now you have those born of Adam who are the children of God, and some who also are the children of Satan.
