All options are on the table when it comes to redistricting in Maryland, state leaders said.
A national battle over redistricting maps entered a new phase in California, where Gov. Gavin Newsom announced his plan to introduce partisan congressional maps. A special election is scheduled for Nov. 4.
While the drafts have not been released, Newsom said they will counter the maps under proposal in Texas.
Earlier this week, Maryland Senate President Bill Ferguson, D-District 46, hinted that a similar battle could be waged in Maryland.
Speaking Thursday on WBAL NewsRadio, Maryland Gov. Wes Moore doubled down on that notion, saying the state is considering all options.
"I've been very clear that in the state of Maryland, all options are on the table about how we respond, but the fact that we even have to have this conversation in the first place because of what Washington is now continuing to inspire all over the country, it's just deeply unfortunate," Moore said.
