I kid you not, they have robots now that will generate coverage for the Rio Olympics in real time.

If all you need is to report the facts to the people the robots will be fine, but what is going to be responsible for introducing that all important left wing slant into the stories? Is it possible to program that in?

I've always said that the best way to run a news organization would be to hire kids out of high school, train them in the basics, and let them do the job of when where what who and why. To Hell with these goddamned J school grads who think they have to change the world.

Maybe robots are an even better idea.

IDK, I'm more worried about Skynet getting it's slant into the stories.

If the liberal media used manufactured robots how would it be different from now?

For the Olympics they are overkill and can certainly handle reporting corruption and doping tests better than most have in the past. For anything more it is good to get a Riefenstahl.

Leftist slant on the Olympics?

What?

How does one describe a successful pole vault in a dirty socialist manner? Praise the workers of the world before announcing the score or something?

Spoken like someone who, predictably, knows absolutely zero about journalism.

And computer assisted reporting is nothing new.

How do you put a leftist slant on stories about the Rio Olympics exactly?

If the liberal media used manufactured robots how would it be different from now?

We wouldn't be able to denigrate and blame actual people for the stuff they publish. All we'd hear would be, "The robot did it. The robot did it." As lame excuses go, you have to admit it's not bad.

I used to work for a newspaper, and this is new because the robots do the reports without human intervention. The robots get the data from computerized scoreboards at the Olympics. It looks like it will be straight reporting of results without commentary.

"Today in the men's pole vault Comrade Vlad Sterginsky crushed the capitalist swine Larry Johnson."

;)

Now you hear, "The editor did it." Same thing. I can't recall ever hearing a reporter accepting responsibility for a crappy story.

No self-respecting reporter writes a crappy story. Just ask 'em. There are no crappy journalists - just crappy readers. They'll never say that in public because they need readers, even if they're crappy readers. OTOH, if you actually do happen to be writing crappy stuff, you really want crappy readers. Who else would read that crap?

It makes for a nice excuse to disagree with something before its even written. How convenient. You don't even have to read an article just claim it has a "leftist slant" and it can be ignored. Too funny really.
