We shouldn’t be punishing people for something that is no longer illegal in Washington state,” Gov. Jay Inslee said.

Washington Gov. Jay Inslee (D) offered on Friday to pardon potentially thousands of people who have a misdemeanor marijuana possession conviction in his state, where weed has long been legal.

Inslee’s new “Marijuana Justice Initiative” will provide pardons on an individual basis to adults who have a single misdemeanor conviction for marijuana possession on an otherwise clean record. He announced the plan at an annual event for The Cannabis Alliance, a group that promotes the cannabis industry.

Legalized medicinal & recreational MJ is coming to you sooner than you might have thought.

You either have to enforce federal law or not. You cannot cherrypick which laws to prosecute.

This doesn't have anything to do with federal law.

Great news! I can't wait till we legalize it. Although our dimwit gov doesn't have the ethics to do what Inslee is doing.

Until it's some issue that personally effects you, then it will be "State's rights!"

You know who enforces federal law?

The federal DOJ and federal law enforcement.

You know who doesn't? Well, this thread might give you a clue.

Would you have taken that position if you had lived in 1850 when the Fugitive Slave Act was in effect?
