Okay, I don't understand why police are charging the man who cut the Miami Dolphins player Jason Taylor, with a hate crime? The man did not know that Taylor was black until he got out of the car...then he started to call Taylor racial names of all sorts...Taylor should have beat the ***** out the idiot.
But, my question is why were the four black thugs who screamed "Get Whitey" and started to chase the white guy (I forget his name) and he ended up getting hit by a car, were not charged with a hate crime?

Umm because hate crimes are only for whitey?

The 4 black guys didn't actually hurt the guy. THey just caused him to run and inturn he was dumb enough to get hit by a car.

They were all charged with his murder as he died from a result of the initial crime, even though he'd been hit by a car.
At first the 4 were charged also with a bias crime, but it's been determined that their intent was to rob the guy, not get him because he was white. For a bias charge to stick, there has to be intent that your behavior was based on the race factor, apparently.

I'm gonna get me a shotgun and kill all the whities I see,
I'm gonna get me a shotgun and kill all the whities I see.
When I kill all the whities I see, then whitey he won't bother me,
I'm gonna get me a shotgun and kill all the whities I see.

The intent was robbery, not to get him because he was white, hence no bias crime charge. He was in Harlem-it was a way for the thugs to point him out as a mark. According to their separate 'confessions', at least.

YA ... cause the white guy running in harlem wasn't obvious enough. They needed a monicker to label him with to seperate him from the other burglary victims.

Get Whitey.......LOL

Comon man... It was a statement singling him out for his race, making the crime racial making the crime hate based. Although how many crimes are love based so I guess they all are hate based

Hello! Harlem! "get that black dude" would have had them a bit confused..

Ever seen Die Hard III when Bruce Willis has to go to Harlem and wear that sign saying that he hates black people?

Those guys didn't mind, and mind you, movies are real.
