Trump continues to back off trying to use the military against his "enemies within" and similarly Trump is contradicting his SecDef nominee Pete Hegseth on DEI that Hegseth breathes fire against.
During the Army-Navy game Trump surprise called the chairman of the Joint Chiefs AF Gen. C.Q. Brown to the President's Box where they chatted amicably for 20 minutes, or throughout the 2nd quarter of the game.
Two Trump aides said later that Trump is now more likely to keep Brown in his job than to "fire him on Day One" as Trump had been ranting and raging all year that he would do. Trump had appointed Gen. Brown Air Force Chief of Staff from Brown's command of Pacific Air Forces.

A meeting between President-elect Donald Trump and the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Air Force Gen. Charles Q. Brown Jr., in a luxury box at the Army-Navy football game last weekend may have delayed Trump’s plans to fire Brown, according to two people with knowledge of the conversation. Trump is now more likely to keep Brown in his job, the two people said. Brown, known as "C.Q.," assumed the chairman’s role on Oct. 1, 2023, and can serve in the position until his four-year term expires in 2027.

Trump and Brown met during the second quarter of the annual military grudge match at Northwest Stadium in Landover, Maryland, on Saturday, the two people said. Trump and Brown spoke one-on-one for about 20 minutes in the owner’s box. They got along well, and Trump is “changing his tone” on Brown, the two people said, and it now appears Trump will not fire him.
The blowback by the military in asserting itself against executing unarmed American citizens is the first and definitive test of which way this will go. The active duty armed forces up and down the ranks are absolutely hard and fast against rounding up Trump's "enemies within" lunacy. Indeed and this makes it evident that Trump has begun to recognize the futility and consequences against him himself of demanding the armed forces obey him in his deranged and bloodthirsty war crimes.
Trump's Oberkommando of mass deportation the field marshal Thos. Homan has already backed off on a military mass deportation of unarmed civilians -- who are minding their own business -- although not completely just yet. Homan has conceded that the military will not be expected to act in a "law-enforcement capacity." But Homan the field marshal is still "hoping" the active duty armed forces will provide "support" for the mad scheme.
Not.
Homan, Trump and MAGAs will have to accept the refusal of the active duty armed forces to round up and shoot "enemies within" and in executing Trump's mad deportation scheme. The National Guard will not do any such thing either. Indeed, the USA armed forces are not the PLA and they certainly are not worse than the PLA.
